WHAT THIS BODY DOES
What you are electing
British Columbia is divided into 93 electoral districts. Voters in each district choose one Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), and the candidate with the most votes wins the seat.
The legislature makes provincial law and approves the budget. The party that holds the confidence of a majority of MLAs forms the government, and its leader becomes premier. With 93 seats, 47 make a majority.
A voter marks one name, so the race that counts for a household is the one in its own district. The Elections BC address lookup shows which district an address is in.
