01 / Introduction
About Terry Yung
Terry Yung is the BC NDP candidate in Vancouver-Yaletown on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. He won the district in 2024 with 9,018 votes, 49.76% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes.
The legislature record lists 2024 as his only election year and shows him as Minister of State for Community Safety and Integrated Services from November 18, 2024. Daily Hive reported in August 2024 that he had retired as an inspector with the Vancouver Police Department after three decades of service.
In the legislature in 2026 he spoke for bills on civil forfeiture, international students and safety in supportive housing, and answered questions on crime against businesses and on emergency services in the Downtown Eastside. A government release in July 2026 quotes him on the expansion of a program that supervises people who commit repeat property crime.
His campaign page says he was the longest-serving board chair of SUCCESS and helped grow its affordable housing to 1,000 units. Those are the campaign's own statements.
