01 / Introduction
About Nicole Charlwood
Elections BC lists Nicole Charlwood as the BC Green Party candidate in Kootenay Central on 2026-10-03. The list shows nominations that Elections BC has accepted. The other two on the list for the district are Brittny Anderson of the BC NDP and Gordon Skulnec of the Conservative Party. The legislature lists Anderson as the sitting member for Kootenay Central.
This is the third time Charlwood appears on a provincial ballot. In 2020 she was the BC Green candidate in Nelson-Creston and finished second to Brittny Anderson: Anderson had 7,296 votes (41.78 percent) and Charlwood 5,611 (32.13 percent), according to Elections BC's statement of votes. Anderson won with 8,716 (39.63 percent) and the Conservative candidate, Kelly Vandenberghe, had 6,967 (31.67 percent).
She held a public office in Nelson. The Nelson Daily reported on 2021-03-28 that she won a city council by-election the day before, with 1,038 votes to 287 for Brenton Raby in preliminary results. The by-election filled the seat Anderson left after winning Nelson-Creston in 2020. In September 2022 My Nelson Now reported that she would not seek re-election, and that she was considering a provincial run.
My Nelson Now's 2024 profile says she has lived in the Nelson area for 25 years, has a degree in economics, was executive director of the West Kootenay Watershed Collaborative and worked as a finance officer for Elections Canada. These details come from that profile and from her own account, and voche.me has not checked them against another source.
On 2026-10-03 the BC Green Party's 2026 candidates page lists 33 candidates and does not include her. voche.me found no campaign website, party release or 2026 news report naming her. The statements below were made in 2023 and 2024, each with its date. She has not been contacted for this page, and the BC Green Party's 2026 plan, listed below as party text, does not name her.

Party text. It does not name Nicole Charlwood, and voche.me found no 2026 statement in which she repeats it.
She won a seat on Nelson City Council in a 2021 by-election and did not seek re-election in 2022. voche.me did not open the council's minutes, so the council record holds no vote or motion of hers.
Preliminary result, reported by The Nelson Daily
Won a Nelson city council by-election
The Nelson Daily reported on 2021-03-28 that she won the vacant council seat with 1,038 votes to 287 for Brenton Raby and 64 for Josh Wapp, in preliminary results from the City of Nelson. Scope, limits and sources
A council seat is a role, so this entry earns no score. voche.me did not open the council's minutes.

Debate coverage
Climate and environment forum, Nelson United Church
My Nelson Now reported that she, Brittny Anderson and Corinne Mori spoke at a forum on environment and climate action, and that more than 200 people attended. Charlwood said old growth should be removed from the Ministry of Forests' control, and that the BC Greens would offer heat pumps free.
She told My Nelson Now that health care and affordability were the main concerns at the door, that the BC Greens promoted six mental health visits a year under the Medical Services Plan, and that a Green team in the legislature would hold governing parties to account.
In a BC Green Party release she welcomed protection of the valley and asked why the government did not declare a Class A park. She said money from mining companies financed the conservancy, and named two other areas she said were at risk of logging.
Records are labelled by type, including official findings, civil proceedings and political disputes where applicable. Each entry identifies the response found in the sources and the latest status verified for this page.
No reviewed entries have been added to this section yet. This is a research gap, not a finding about the candidate.

No campaign website, BC Green Party candidate page, party release or 2026 news report naming Nicole Charlwood was found on 2026-10-03. The party's 2026 candidates page lists 33 candidates and not her, and a search of the party's website for her surname returned one result, a 2023 release. A My Nelson Now report of 2026-10-02 on the Kootenay Central race names Brittny Anderson, Gordon Skulnec and OneBC's Hunter Corrigal and does not name her; Elections BC's list, read on 2026-10-03, includes her. Her Facebook page, titled Nicole Charlwood for MLA, returned no readable posts and was not used. A Castanet article of 2024 returned HTTP 403, and a Nelson Star and a Creston Valley Advance article returned no article text, so none of them is used. The City of Nelson's council minutes were not opened, so her 2021 and 2022 council votes and motions are unchecked. Her degree, her earlier jobs and her watershed and Elections Canada roles come from news reports that repeat her own account. Her 2026 priorities, all-candidates meetings, campaign finances and endorsements were not found. No portrait was added: the only photo found was in a 2024 news article, credited to her, with no licence, so it is not used. The questionnaire has not been sent.

What voche.me has checked
Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list and key dates page, Elections BC's statements of votes for 2024 and 2020, the legislature's party standings, the BC Green Party's candidates page, plan page, media releases and a search of its website, a My Nelson Now report of 2026-10-02 on the Kootenay Central race, and reports from My Nelson Now, The Nelson Daily and Kootenay Co-op Radio dated 2020 to 2024.
No statement by Nicole Charlwood dated 2026 was found. Her own words on this page come from 2023 and 2024 and carry their dates. Her Facebook page returned no readable posts and was not used. The web search tool had reached its limit, so the name search used Brave Search and the party and news sites directly. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.
