01 / Introduction
About Megan Knight
Elections BC lists Megan Knight as the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Surrey South. The party announced her on September 25, 2026. The district's MLA, Brent Chapman, won it for the Conservatives in 2024 with 13,056 votes (58.83 percent). Peace Arch News and the Surrey Now-Leader report that he has left the party and will run for OneBC, and that CentreBC leader Elenore Sturko is also running in the district.
The City of White Rock lists her as its mayor. Its page says she was elected mayor in 2022 and served as a councillor from 2014 to 2018. The City's 2014 results show her elected as a councillor with the White Rock Coalition, with 2,127 votes. Daily Hive reports that she won the 2022 mayoral race with 2,001 votes, ahead of the sitting mayor, Darryl Walker, with 1,811.
She had filed to run for a second term as mayor in the October 17, 2026 civic election. The City's election page lists her as withdrawn, and Daily Hive and Peace Arch News report that the provincial government approved her withdrawal after the City's deadline had passed. CBC News reports that a 2025 provincial law bars a person from serving as an MLA and a mayor at the same time.
Elections BC's 2020 results list a Megan Knight as an independent candidate in Surrey-White Rock, with 1,607 votes (5.92 percent). Her 2020 VoteMate profile, written by her campaign, describes a notary public from the area. Peace Arch News reports that she sought the BC Liberal nomination for that district in 2020 before that.
The City and the party both say she ran a notary public practice for 25 years, and that she has served on the Metro Vancouver board and the TransLink Mayors' Council. voche.me has not checked these with the Society of Notaries Public or the regional bodies.
voche.me has not contacted the campaign. Her votes listed below are votes as Mayor of White Rock, reported by Peace Arch News.

Evidence & next checks
Evidence reviewed
Her words are quoted in the party's September 25, 2026 announcement. The source names no measure, no amount, no cost and no date.
What still needs checking
Which tax, fee or price measures does she support, and what would they cost the provincial budget?
Her votes as mayor come from local reporting that names her. City decisions that have no provincial lever are listed and earn no score.
Defeated 4 to 3; reported by Peace Arch News
Votes for third reading of White Rock's plan update for provincial housing rules
Peace Arch News reports that Mayor Knight voted in favour of third reading of an update to White Rock's community plan that applied the Province's rules for small multi-unit housing. Four councillors voted against and it was defeated. She said the Province's Bill 44 gives the city housing numbers it must meet by law.
Scope, limits and sources
A White Rock council vote, reported by Peace Arch News on March 12, 2026, which describes the meeting as "Monday night". voche.me did not open the council minutes.
Votes against a partial change to White Rock's sign bylaw
Peace Arch News reports that she voted against a motion to change one part of the sign bylaw before a full review. The article says she and two councillors argued for a full review of the bylaw.
Scope, limits and sources
A city decision with no provincial lever, so it earns no score.
Peace Arch News reports that council put $3 million of a 2025 surplus into the Community Hub reserve and $1 million into a new reserve for one-time purchases, with Mayor Knight and two councillors opposed. The article does not give her reason.
Scope, limits and sources
A city budget decision, so it earns no score on the provincial issues.
The Government of Canada announced $25,935,000 for phase 2 of the White Rock pier rebuild, with $4,065,000 from the City. The release quotes the City as saying it advocated for the pier. CBC News names Mayor Knight as the speaker of that statement.
Scope, limits and sources
The grant was announced by the local MP, Ernie Klassen. The party lists the grant as a result of her work as mayor; the federal release does not say what part she played, so this entry earns no score.
Endorsed for final adoption 4 to 3; reported by Peace Arch News
Votes against White Rock's final community plan
Peace Arch News reports that Mayor Knight voted against the new community plan on August 31 and again at third reading on September 14. She said the plan meets the Province's housing targets only by assuming every site is fully built, and that it removed a health district planned around Peace Arch Hospital with housing for health-care workers.
Scope, limits and sources
A White Rock council vote. The article says final adoption could come as soon as November 23. voche.me did not open the council minutes.

Conservatives name the White Rock mayor in Surrey South
Reports her candidacy, her 2020 attempt to win the BC Liberal nomination, and her withdrawal from the White Rock mayoral race.
Sources checked September 30, 2026. Official records establish decisions; campaign material establishes stated positions; reporting adds investigation and context. None alone establishes every claim.
No campaign website of her own was found; meganknight.com forwards to the party's candidate page. No platform, interview or statement from her Surrey South campaign was found beyond the party announcement. Her Facebook page (meganknightswr) shows only a sign-in page, so nothing from it is used. White Rock council minutes were not opened, so her council votes rest on Peace Arch News. The City's past results page has no 2022 results, and CivicInfo BC returned HTTP 403, so her 2022 vote count comes from Daily Hive. Her notary public practice, her board roles (Metro Vancouver, TransLink Mayors' Council, Sources Foundation, Society of Notaries Public of BC, Notary Foundation, Fraser Valley Regional Library, Tour de White Rock) and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medallion are stated by the City and the party; voche.me has not checked them with those bodies. The party lists faster permit times and progress on the Community Hub as results of her work as mayor; no independent source for her part in them was found. The party's Surrey announcement spells her name "Meagan"; this page follows the Elections BC spelling. Her 2020 BC Liberal nomination bid is reported by Peace Arch News only; no party record of it was found. No all-candidates meeting for Surrey South was found on this date. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed.
