About Alexandra Wright

Elections BC lists Alexandra Wright as the OneBC candidate in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream. On the copy of the list stamped October 3, 2026 7:00:07 PM, which is after nominations closed at 1 p.m. that day, the district shows four candidates: Binny Boparai (BC NDP), Carter Mochinski (BC Green Party), Pavneet Singh (Conservative Party) and Alexandra Wright (OneBC). West K News reported on October 1, 2026 that the district's previous MLA, Tara Armstrong, was elected for the Conservatives in 2024, later joined OneBC, and then became an Independent.

Her OneBC candidate page says she is a first-generation Canadian who earned a BA in Anthropology from the University of Calgary and a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law, practised law for several years, and then worked as a legal advisor in the energy sector. It says that in 2013 she and her husband, John, incorporated a supply chain consulting firm, and that the family also runs a farm in Ellison. voche.me has not checked her degrees, her law practice or her business with a school, a law society or a registry. Vernon Matters and West K News repeat parts of this in their reports of her OneBC nomination, and West K News calls her a lawyer. Those reports do not say they checked it.

Global News reported on March 19, 2024 that Alexandra Wright, who owns Sweet Cherry Stables in Ellison, had started a petition against Sandher Fruit Packers, a nearby plant that had applied to discharge wastewater. The report says the Ministry of Environment had fined the company $32,000 in 2022 for violating waste discharge rules. CBC News reported in September 2024 that court documents in her lawsuit describe a community meeting she held at her barn in Ellison in March 2024 about the same plant. Her OneBC page says that over the past years she led rallies and campaigns in her region to oppose unlawful dumping, protect waterways and oppose irresponsible development.

West K News reported on October 1, 2026 that she won the BC Conservative nomination in Kelowna-Mission in February 2024 and that the party announced her removal on X on August 9, 2024. The party's post said the decision followed "careful consideration of various factors related to campaign performance and conduct." She told Black Press Media that she was told she was being removed for performance and conduct but was given no examples. She said the party leader at the time, John Rustad, had earlier asked her to move to the Vernon-Lumby riding and had offered her $20,000. The Conservatives denied her allegations. A party spokesperson told Postmedia that she "was not performing as a candidate." These are claims by her and by the party. No court or regulator has decided any of them.

She sued the BC Conservative Party in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in September 2024. West K News reports that she ended the suit with a notice of discontinuance (a filing by which the person who sued ends the claim) on November 19, 2024. The same report says that over recent months she posted support for OneBC, for Dallas Brodie as premier, for Ron Cannan for Kelowna mayor and for Chris Bocskei for Kelowna city council, and that she is one of five Kelowna residents who filed a petition in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against the City of Kelowna over the land use change for the Kelowna Springs Golf Course site.

voche.me has not contacted the campaign. OneBC's priorities page does not name her, so its platform items on this page are the party's.

Policies, budgets & programs

No public office is on record for her. The public record found concerns her 2024 candidacy for the BC Conservatives in Kelowna-Mission, her removal by that party, and her civil lawsuit against it, which West K News reports she ended on November 19, 2024. Each claim in those reports is attributed to the person or party who made it, and no court or regulator decided any of them.

Statement

Biography and statement on her OneBC candidate page

The page, written in the third person, says she believes in standing up for her community and leading by example, and that if elected she would read the fine print, think critically, ask difficult questions and challenge the status quo. It names no policy. It ends with a line from Shakespeare. The page shows no publication date, so the date is the day voche.me read it. Kelowna-area outlets reported her nomination on September 30 and October 1, 2026.

BC Conservative Party removes her as Kelowna-Mission candidate

Global News reported on August 9, 2024 that the Conservative Party of BC removed Alexandra Wright as its Kelowna-Mission candidate, with a social media post citing "careful consideration of various factors related to campaign performance and conduct." CBC News reported that, according to her court claim, the party's executive director told her by phone on August 8 that the reasons were conduct violations surrounding discipline, performance concerns and conflict with the fruit-packing industry. She said she believes the removal followed her refusal to move to Vernon-Lumby and her opposition to Sandher Fruit Packers.

Candidate or party response

Party spokesperson Anthony Koch told Postmedia: "Simply, she was not performing as a candidate." He said she was not out in the community building relationships, fundraising or door-knocking. Peter Fassbender, a spokesperson for Sandher Fruit Packers, told CBC News the company had no influence on the party's decision.

Verified status and limits

No court or regulator decided the reasons for the removal. Gavin Dew replaced her as the party's Kelowna-Mission candidate, according to CBC News.

Her allegation that the Conservative leader offered $20,000 to move ridings

The Vancouver Sun reported on August 16, 2024 that she said John Rustad, then the Conservative leader, offered her $20,000 from the central campaign in mid-July 2024 if she moved from Kelowna-Mission to Vernon-Lumby. The same report quotes Elections BC as saying the Election Act does not prohibit a party from transferring money to a candidate as an incentive to switch ridings.

Candidate or party response

Koch said the offer was about supporting her and the local campaign, and was a transfer from the central campaign to the Vernon-Lumby team for costs such as printing and lawn signs.

Verified status and limits

The report describes a disagreement over what the money was for. It records no finding by a court or regulator that anyone broke a rule.

Her civil lawsuit against the BC Conservative Party

CBC News reported on September 13, 2024 that she sued the party in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, claiming among other things breach of contract and defamation and seeking more than $800,000 in damages and a retraction of the party's statements about her removal. CBC News noted that her allegations had not been proven in court. West K News reports the suit also asked for her reinstatement as the candidate.

Candidate or party response

The party's executive director, Angelo Isidorou, told CBC News the party had not yet been served and could not comment.

Verified status and limits

West K News reports that on November 19, 2024, a month after the 2024 provincial election, she filed a notice of discontinuance, which is a filing that ends a claim. voche.me did not read the court file and found no decision by a court.
