BC Greens announce councillor, journalist as provincial candidates in Greater Victoria
Reports that the party's leader announced him as the candidate in Oak Bay-Gordon Head and quotes his statement. The party's description of his record is attributed to the party.
His own answers to the Times Colonist's candidate questionnaire in the 2022 local election: housing, active transportation and sustainability as his top issues, and his work for a provincial ministry. These are his statements from 2022 and are not provincial campaign commitments.
Sources checked October 3, 2026. Official records establish decisions; campaign material establishes stated positions; reporting adds investigation and context. None alone establishes every claim.
The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, so voche.me used Google News pages, the party's pages and his own website. Bing and DuckDuckGo returned no readable result list. His Instagram page (linked from the party's candidate page) showed no readable text and his LinkedIn page (linked from his website) refused the request (HTTP 999), so nothing from either is used. His campaign contact details exist on his website and are left out. No all-candidates meeting, event or endorsement for him in this district was found. The District of Oak Bay council and committee minutes and the Greater Victoria Public Library board minutes were not opened, so each vote above rests on one news report. His claims of chairing the Community Climate Action Working Group, launching Coolkit, working more than 25 years in environmental protection, serving with the Langley Environmental Partners Society, the Jericho Stewardship Group and the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network, and coaching with Bays United and Beacon Hill Little League come from the party's page or his website and were not checked with those bodies. His employment with the province comes from his own website and a 2022 questionnaire. The goals page on his website describes council goals, carries no date, and is cited only for the five-year route network statement. His Bluesky post of August 20, 2026 says a news story concerned a different Andrew Appleton; nothing about that person is used here. The party's plan page says the full platform is coming soon, and it does not name him. The questionnaire has not been sent.
