About Gloria Morgan

Elections BC lists Gloria Morgan as the BC NDP candidate in Salmon Arm-Shuswap. On the copy of the list stamped October 3, 2026 4:00:07 PM, which is after nominations closed at 1 p.m. that day, the district shows four candidates: Gloria Morgan (BC NDP), Barbara Presch (OneBC), Jed Wiebe (BC Green Party) and David L Williams (Conservative Party). In 2024 David L. Williams won the district for the Conservative Party with 16,566 votes (52.1 percent). Sylvia Lindgren (BC NDP) received 9,677 votes (30.4 percent) and Jed Wiebe (BC Green Party) received 2,250 votes (7.0 percent), according to Elections BC’s statement of votes.

The Salmon Arm Observer reported on October 3, 2026 that she is a former chief (Kukpi7) of Splatsin. Splatsin is a First Nation next to Enderby. The Observer, Penticton Western News and Vernon Morning Star each name a Gloria Morgan as a former Splatsin chief, and voche.me treats the public record below as hers on the strength of the Observer’s description. The BC NDP has published no page that confirms the link.

The BC Achievement Foundation lists Gloria Morgan as a 2024 British Columbia Reconciliation Award recipient. Its page says she is a survivor of St. Eugene’s Indian Residential School and the Sixties Scoop, served 11 years as an RCMP officer, moved into law in 1994, practised until 2001, and was then elected chief of the Splatsin First Nation, serving two terms. It also says she worked as a federal adjudicator for Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada and was a Provincial Health Services Authority board member when the award was announced. The Vernon Morning Star reported in November 2024 that she was one of five members of the Elders and Knowledge Keepers Council of the B.C. First Nations Justice Council, and an Elder Knowledge Keeper for School District 83. These descriptions come from the foundation’s page and from her own interview. voche.me has not checked her career or her board roles with the RCMP, the law society, the health authority or the justice council.

In 2025 she ran for the Liberal Party of Canada in Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay. The Similkameen Spotlight reported preliminary results on April 29, 2025 that put her second with 25,390 votes (37 percent), behind Conservative Helena Konanz with 30,073 votes (44 percent). In an April 2025 interview the Times Chronicle quoted her saying she is a provincial NDP “because I don’t have a choice”, and that she had been a federal Liberal for more than 30 years. The Salmon Arm Observer’s October 3, 2026 report says she ran for the NDP in 2025. The Summerland Review, Similkameen Spotlight, Times Chronicle and Penticton Western News name her as the Liberal candidate, so this page uses the Liberal party for 2025.

voche.me has not contacted the campaign. The BC NDP’s team page listed 59 candidate profiles on October 3, 2026 and none was for Salmon Arm-Shuswap, so the party has published no page about her and no platform of her own.

The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, so voche.me used Google News feeds and the news sites directly. Bing and DuckDuckGo returned no readable result list. No campaign website, social media account or BC NDP candidate page for her was found: the BC NDP team page listed 59 candidate profiles on 2026-10-03 and none was for Salmon Arm-Shuswap. The link between the candidate and the former Splatsin chief rests on the Salmon Arm Observer’s description of her as a former Kukpi7 of Splatsin, together with the same name in the other reports. The BC NDP has published nothing that confirms it. The Observer says she ran for the NDP in 2025, while four other outlets name her as the Liberal candidate. The campaign has not been asked to confirm it. Her career, board roles and RCMP service come from the BC Achievement Foundation page and local news, and were not checked with the RCMP, the Law Society of British Columbia, the health authority, the justice council or the school district. The 2025 vote counts are the Similkameen Spotlight’s preliminary figures and were not checked against Elections Canada’s official results, which could not be read. The Castanet report on the Splatsin election refused the request (HTTP 403) and nothing from it is used. No all-candidates meeting, event or endorsement for her in this district was found. The BC NDP platform page names no candidate. The questionnaire has not been sent.

The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, so voche.me used Google News feeds and the news sites directly. Bing and DuckDuckGo returned no readable result list.

No campaign website, social media account or BC NDP candidate page for her was found, so nothing from the campaign itself is used. The Splatsin and RCMP record comes from the BC Achievement Foundation and from news reports.
