About Honieh Barzegari
Elections BC lists Honieh Barzegari as the BC NDP candidate for MLA in West Vancouver-Capilano. The copy of the list voche.me read is stamped October 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., after nominations closed on October 3. It shows four candidates in the district: Honieh Barzegari for the BC NDP, Naomi Chocyk for OneBC, Caroline Elliott for the Conservative Party and Arwa Shurab for the BC Green Party.
In 2024, Conservative Lynne Block won West Vancouver-Capilano with 12,049 votes (46.67 percent). Karin Kirkpatrick, the member before that election, ran as an independent and received 5,326 votes (20.63 percent). The BC NDP candidate that year, Sara Eftekhar, received 7,006 votes (27.14 percent), and Archie Kaario of the BC Green Party received 1,435 votes (5.56 percent). The name Barzegari does not appear in the 2024 statement of votes.
The BC NDP candidate page, read on October 7, 2026, describes her as a Canadian woman of Iranian origin and a physician by training with more than 20 years of experience in medicine, health care, life sciences, health technology, business, public policy, government and governance. It says she began her career practising medicine in rural communities in Iran, served as a Ministerial Advisor with the Government of British Columbia, sits on the Langara College Board of Governors and co-chairs KPU's Health and Science Committee. The page lists no commitment of her own for the district. Her employer's page at Earnscliffe, a public affairs firm, lists her as Principal, Public Affairs, and in her profile there she says she moved to Vancouver from Tehran in 2015 and became a Canadian citizen in 2019.
Two public records support parts of that account. The BC Lobbyists Registry, which records who lobbyists met in government, names her as a senior public office holder with the title Ministerial Advisor in 21 lobbying activity reports dated from March 31, 2023 to August 22, 2025: in the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation from 2023 to January 2024, in Municipal Affairs and in Housing and Municipal Affairs in 2024, and in Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport in 2025. Langara College announced on August 5, 2026 that the provincial government had appointed her to its Board of Governors for a one-year term to July 31, 2027, and the College's board members page lists her as a member. voche.me found no page on the Kwantlen Polytechnic University website that names her, so the committee role rests on the party page alone.
She ran for Vancouver City Council in the October 15, 2022 municipal election for Vision Vancouver. The City's candidate list printed her name as BARZEGARI, Honieh هانیه برزگری, and the City's official results give her 6,831 votes, 49th of 59 council candidates, with ten seats filled. At a forum at UBC on October 11, 2022, The Ubyssey reported that she said Vision Vancouver would ask for a rezoning throughout the city within its first 90 days on council.

Sources checked October 7, 2026. Official records establish decisions; campaign material establishes stated positions; reporting adds investigation and context. None alone establishes every claim.
voche.me found no statement from this candidate about the 2026 campaign on 2026-10-07: no release, interview, social media post that could be read, or news report that could be opened. What voche.me has checked
Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-07: the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 7, 2026 and its key dates page, the 2024 statement of votes, the BC NDP candidate page, candidate list, releases page and platform page, the BC Lobbyists Registry search for her name, Langara College's board announcement of August 5, 2026 and board members page, the Earnscliffe team page and profile, the City of Vancouver's 2022 candidate list and official results, The Ubyssey's report of October 12, 2022, and web searches for her name alone, with the district, 2026, NDP, MLA and the 2022 election.
The BC NDP candidate page, which showed no page on October 2, 2026, was live on October 7 and the party's West Vancouver-Capilano address now sends readers to it. Its biography is the campaign's own account. Two parts were checked against the bodies that would know: the Lobbyists Registry confirms the ministerial advisor role, and Langara College confirms the board seat. The KPU committee role, the medical degree and the private sector roles were not checked.
No statement from the candidate about this campaign was found. The North Shore News published a list of North Shore candidates on October 6, 2026, but its server answered HTTP 403 and the article could not be read, so nothing from it is used. Her Facebook page shows a login wall. Elections BC lists four candidates in the district. The questionnaire has not been sent.

The firm's team page lists her under this title. The firm's profile of her, written in her own account, says she has held leadership roles in the biopharmaceutical and health technology sectors and led a national digital health initiative through Canada's Digital Technology Cluster. voche.me has not checked those roles with the companies.
The party page says she practised medicine in rural communities in Iran, and Langara College's announcement says she holds a Doctor of Medicine degree. voche.me has not checked either with a medical regulator.
