About Warren Hamm

Elections BC lists Warren Hamm as the OneBC candidate in Penticton-Summerland. The other three accepted candidates in the district on the copy stamped October 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. are Bradley Sean Bartsch (BC Green Party), Tina Lee (BC NDP) and Tracy St Claire (Conservative Party). The Penticton Western News reported on October 3, 2026 that Hamm has not previously run for office in the riding, and that the incumbent, Amelia Boultbee, said the week before that she would not seek re-election. The Western Standard reported on September 17, 2026 that OneBC had named him.

In December 2025 the Rossland Telegraph reported a press release saying he would seek the leadership of the Conservative Party of BC. The release says he was the first to announce a candidacy after John Rustad's resignation, and Castlegar News reports the same. On April 12, 2026 he withdrew and said in a post on X that he was supporting Yuri Fulmer. Castlegar News reports that he also replied to a post saying he might consider running as an MLA.

On his OneBC page he says he is a contractor, licensed aircraft maintenance engineer and small-business owner with more than 30 years of experience in aviation, construction, resources and emergency response, including helicopter maintenance that supported firefighting. He says he was born in Vancouver, raised in the Cariboo and lived more than 25 years in the West Kootenay before moving to the South Okanagan.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia decision of January 16, 2023, Hammer Head Equities Inc. v. Rossland (City), says four petitioner companies share a common principal, Warren Hamm, meaning a leading person behind them. The court ordered the City of Rossland to grant their four tree removal permits. The entry under accountability gives the details and the City's response.

voche.me has not confirmed his aircraft maintenance licence or his business history with the bodies that would know. voche.me has not contacted the campaign.

Policies, budgets & programs

His work history comes from his own OneBC page. The dated public record found on 2026-10-03 is his leadership run and the 2023 court ruling, and neither is a vote or a public action in office, so no entry earns a score.

Entered the race to lead the Conservative Party of BC

The Rossland Telegraph reported a press release saying Warren Hamm would seek the leadership of the Conservative Party of BC. The release says he was the first to announce after John Rustad's resignation, and Castlegar News reports the same.

Scope, limits and sources

The date is the day the Rossland Telegraph published the report. A party leadership race is no public office, so this entry earns no score.

Withdrew from the Conservative leadership race and backed Yuri Fulmer

Castlegar News and Voice Online report that he withdrew on April 12, 2026 and said he was supporting Yuri Fulmer. Castlegar News reports that the race had five candidates left, and that he replied to a post saying he might consider running as an MLA.

Scope, limits and sources

His reason is the one he gave in his post, quoted under talks. A party leadership race is no public office, so this entry earns no score.

Statement

Press release on entering the leadership race

The Rossland Telegraph quotes his release as saying British Columbia needs a team builder who can unite people around practical solutions, and a government that works for the people who actually build the province. The release is the campaign's own account, and the Telegraph reports that he could not be reached for comment that day.

Controversies & public scrutiny

Records are labelled by type, including official findings, civil proceedings and political disputes where applicable. Each entry identifies the response found in the sources and the latest status verified for this page.

Court ruling on the City of Rossland's refusal of four tree removal permits

Four companies (Hammer Head Equities Inc., 0897306 BC Ltd., 0708752 BC Ltd. and Rock Cut Neighborhood Pub Ltd.) asked the Supreme Court of British Columbia to review the City of Rossland's August 9, 2021 refusal of their development permits for tree removal. The court says the four share a common principal, Warren Hamm. It says none of the proposed tree removals was linked to any imminent building project. In a sworn statement summarized by the court, Hamm said much of the timber on one parcel was dead or dying and that he had hired a professional forester. The court says the Council's doubts about the logging motivated its refusals, and that it ruled on whether the City reasonably applied its own community plan and its duties of good faith and fairness. On January 16, 2023, Justice Lyster found the refusals unreasonable and found that the City acted in bad faith, because it refused the permits and then adopted a new tree bylaw that would have stopped the work had the refusals been overturned.

Candidate or party response

In March 2023 the City of Rossland said it accepted the decision and would not appeal. It said its Mayor, Andy Morel, had noted that Council believed refusing the permits was in the community's best interest, to protect natural resources for future generations, and that the bad faith finding was made under the legal rules that govern government decisions. voche.me found no published statement from Hamm about the case.

Verified status and limits

The court set aside the four refusals, ordered the City to grant the four permits, and ruled that the earlier tree bylaw governs the work for 24 months. It said the companies were entitled to their court costs and could ask for a hearing on extra costs. voche.me found no later decision on extra costs on 2026-10-03. The bad faith finding applies to the City.

No campaign website was found. The domains warrenhamm.ca and warrenhamm.com answer with a placeholder page that names no candidate, so voche.me used nothing from them. OneBC's pages link to no social media account of his. News reports quote posts on his X account but give no address, so voche.me used those posts only as quoted. The name search tool hit its usage limit, so the name search used Google News results, a Bing page that returned only unrelated results, and each of the Rossland Telegraph, Castlegar News, Voice Online and Western Standard site searches. The body of the Western Standard article of September 17, 2026 did not load. Castanet, CBC and CTV pages returned no readable text, so voche.me used nothing from them. A My Kootenay Now headline of October 24, 2025 about a settled lawsuit against Rossland politicians appeared in a name search. voche.me could not open it and found nothing tying it to him, so it is not used. His aircraft maintenance licence, his companies and his claim to have been the first to declare for the Conservative leadership were not checked with the licensing body, the BC Registry or the party. His positions beyond the OneBC plan, all-candidates meetings in the district, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list, Elections BC's page of key dates, OneBC's page on him, its candidates and plan pages, reporting from the Penticton Western News, the Western Standard, Castlegar News, Voice Online and the Rossland Telegraph, and the text of the Supreme Court of British Columbia decision of January 16, 2023.

No campaign website or social media account of his was found. News reports quote posts on his X account, and voche.me used those only through the reports. The statements on his OneBC page are his campaign's own, and the party's plan page does not name him, so its pledges are listed as the party's. The body of the Western Standard article of September 17, 2026 did not load, so only its headline and subtitle were read. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.
