About Stan Sipos

Elections BC lists Stan Sipos as the Conservative Party candidate in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, on the copy of its list stamped October 1, 2026 11:00:06 PM. The same copy lists Diana Gibson of the BC NDP and Andrew Weaver of CentreBC. The Times Colonist candidate list, read on 2026-10-02, also names Andrew Appleton of the BC Green Party in the district. Andrew Appleton was not on the Elections BC copy read that day.

In the 2024 election Diana Gibson won the district with 14,519 votes (49.10 percent), ahead of Stephen Andrew of the Conservative Party with 8,542 (28.89 percent) and Lisa Gunderson of the BC Green Party with 6,509 (22.01 percent). Those figures are from the Elections BC statement of votes. voche.me found no candidate named Sipos anywhere in that document.

In December 2021 the Times Colonist reported that Victoria developer Stan Sipos had joined the race to lead the BC Liberal Party. It reported that he wanted to stop old-growth logging, train more doctors and nurses and cut red tape. The account @StanSipos on X, which posted about that leadership race in 2021, now describes him as running for the Conservative Party of BC in Oak Bay-Gordon Head. Both the 2021 article and the party page also name the Customs House project in Victoria and the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame. voche.me did not open the party's own record of the 2022 leadership vote, so the result is not given here.

The party says he came to Canada as a refugee from Yugoslavia, left home at 16, worked in the building trades for ten years, and then spent more than 50 years in business and real estate development. It says he co-founded Cielo Carbon Solutions, a carbon capture company. His X profile calls him President of Cielo Group. voche.me has not checked these roles with the companies.

The Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame lists Stan Sipos of Victoria among its 2015 inductees, the earliest year on its list. Its page on him describes a drag racing career that includes a win at the 1990 NHRA Summernationals in New Jersey.

No campaign website was found on 2026-10-02: six likely addresses did not answer, and neither the party page nor his X profile names one. His X account (@StanSipos) was read through api.fxtwitter.com, a public site that shows X posts without signing in, because x.com shows only a sign-in page to a direct request. The reader returned the profile and the newest posts; the account lists 21 posts, and the posts read include four from his own account in September and October 2026 and two from December 2021. His Facebook account (stan.sipos) and the party's Facebook post introducing him show only a sign-in page, so nothing from them is used. Several posts on his X timeline are reposts from another account under the surname Sipos, and Western Standard opinion pieces in 2025 are signed by that other person. They are left out, because they are not his own words. The Times Colonist reported his 2021 entry into the BC Liberal leadership race. voche.me did not open the party's own record of the February 2022 vote, so his result is not given. His refugee background, his years in the trades and the Carpenters Union, his 50 years in development, the number of projects he built, the awards the party says his developments won, and his role at Cielo Carbon Solutions are stated by the party; voche.me has not checked them. The Cielo Carbon Solutions team page did not return readable text to a direct request. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The party's own team page names Lorne Doerkson as leader and lists Sipos only as the Oak Bay-Gordon Head candidate, so voche.me does not repeat that label. Elections BC results for elections before 2024 were not searched for his name. All-candidates meetings in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. Nominations close October 3, 2026, so other candidates may still be added. The questionnaire has not been sent.
