01 / Introduction
About Curtis Whitford
Elections BC lists Curtis Whitford as the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Peace River North. Energeticcity.ca reports that the party announced him on September 27, 2026. He runs against the sitting MLA, Jordan Kealy, who won the district for the Conservatives in 2024 and now runs as an Independent.
The party says he has lived in Fort St. John and Northeast BC through his career, with 36 years in the oil and gas industry. By the party's account he started in oilfield construction and maintenance, trained as a fourth class power engineer at SAIT in Calgary, and later worked as a field operator, in gas plant operations, in oilfield waste management and as a regional manager with an oilfield engineering firm.
The party also says he joined the board of a local co-operative serving the Fort St. John area, and that he coached and sat on the board of minor hockey and served as Transportation Director for the Regional Trackers hockey program. CJDC-TV reports the same roles. voche.me has not checked them with the co-operative or the hockey program.
His name is not in the 2024 statement of votes. In 2024 Jordan Kealy won Peace River North with 11,213 votes (74.36 percent).

What still needs checking

Three candidates in Peace River North
Reports that the party announced him on September 27, and names Jordan Kealy and Wayne Bell as the other two candidates who had announced by September 28.
Sources checked September 30, 2026. Official records establish decisions; campaign material establishes stated positions; reporting adds investigation and context. None alone establishes every claim.
No campaign website was found by search or on the party page, and three likely web addresses did not answer. The party candidate page links only to the party's own social media accounts, and no personal account of his was found, so no post is used. The party's platform page says the platform is coming soon and does not name him. No party news release naming him was found; the party announcement of September 27, 2026 was read only through Energeticcity.ca and CJDC-TV. The party candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The party's own team page names Lorne Doerkson as leader, so voche.me does not repeat that label. His 36 years in oil and gas, his SAIT training, his co-operative board seat and his hockey roles come from the party, and CJDC-TV repeats them; voche.me has not checked them with SAIT, the co-operative or the hockey program. Energeticcity.ca reported in October 2024 that a Curtis Whitford of the Fort St. John Petroleum Association moderated the 2024 Peace River North all-candidates forum. No source read on this date says that person is this candidate, so the role is left out. Energeticcity.ca says it has asked all candidates for interviews; none with him was published by this date. All-candidates meetings in the district, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date.
