The aim of Mental Health, Drugs and Addiction, in the party's words
TrueBlue Vancouver's approach to mental health, drugs, & addiction is organized around the following commitments.
The mental health, drugs and addiction section of TrueBlue Vancouver's 2026 platform is on pages 22 to 24. It covers crisis response, mental health in schools, overdoses and the contaminated drug supply, and treatment for addiction.
The party's stated goal is to help people become drug free and rebuild independent lives. It opposes what it calls the normalization of hard drug use, and would focus city resources on prevention, treatment, recovery and enforcement against traffickers and dealers. It would expand detox, treatment and long-term recovery programs, expand crisis response for people in serious mental health crises, and focus school mental health resources on counselling, with parents kept informed.
Health services, treatment beds and drug policy are provincial and federal, so much of this section depends on the Province. Council directs city spending and outreach and approves the police budget. The Vancouver Police Board directs the police, and the School Board runs school counselling.
