Questions about voche.me.
Are the candidate profiles real?
Yes. Every profile is a candidate on the City of Vancouver’s official 2026 ballot list, shown in ballot order. Pages marked “Researched by voche.me” are prepared from public sources, and each page lists them.
Where do the voting places come from?
From the City of Vancouver’s open data on 2026 voting places. Any voting place in the city will take your ballot. Confirm hours and accessibility on the City’s election website before you go.
Is voche.me an official City of Vancouver website?
No. voche.me is an independent guide, separate from the City of Vancouver, political parties and candidates. We link to the City’s own election site wherever a page depends on official information, such as voting hours and locations.
What does an empty comparison field mean?
An empty field on the candidate comparison tool means voche.me has not yet added a sourced position for that candidate on that topic. It does not mean the candidate has no position, only that we have not confirmed one from a public source yet.
Where do the poll numbers come from?
The polls page shows every published survey of the 2026 mayoral race exactly as the polling company released it, with the dates, the number of people asked, who paid for it and a link to the original report. voche.me does not run its own polls.
What reporting is available?
voche.me has published 265 candidate profile articles on its news page, each with sourced facts, a public record and citations to the original reporting. Guides to voting places, polls, parties and nomination papers are on their own pages.
Why do some candidate questions show no answer?
The Q&A section on a researched profile lists questions we would put to that candidate. They have not been sent yet, so the page says plainly that no answer has been supplied instead of leaving the section blank.
What are nomination papers, and why does voche.me not list the names on them?
A nomination paper is the form a candidate files with the City to get on the ballot, signed by electors who support putting that person on the ballot. The City publishes each form for public inspection. Section 45 (8) of the Vancouver Charter allows the information in these papers to be used only for the purposes of the Charter and of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, so voche.me links to the City’s copy for the eight mayoral candidates and does not copy names or other details from it.
How do I know if a profile is candidate-supplied or independently researched?
Each profile says so near the top. "Researched by voche.me" means we built the page from public sources and it lists them. "Candidate-supplied content" means the campaign wrote it, and we say so rather than presenting it as our own reporting.
