Who signed to put
each candidate on the ballot

To stand for mayor, a person files a form with the City. Electors who live in Vancouver sign it to say this person should be on the ballot. The City publishes every completed form. This page lists the names read from those forms, with the PDF page each one is on, so you can open the official document and check any of them yourself.

Signing is not an endorsement. It says the signer supported putting the person on the ballot, and nothing about how they will vote, who they fund or which policies they agree with.

The filings

How these names were read

Each form is a scan of a paper document. The typed parts carry a text layer that a computer can read. The nominator names are handwritten, and that same text layer turns handwriting into nonsense, so no name here comes from automatic extraction. Every name was read from a page image rendered at 400 dots per inch and, where the writing was hard, again at 800.

A name marked “Reading not settled” is one a reader could not resolve. It is kept in the list with that label rather than replaced by a guess. Where only part of a name could be read, only that part is printed.

An entry marked “Crossed out on the form” has a line drawn through it on the page. Those entries are not counted as nominators. The form does not record why any entry was crossed out, and neither does this page.

The City redacts residential addresses, postal codes and mailing addresses on these forms under section 22(1) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. No address, contact detail or signature image is copied here. The official PDF stays the source for inspection, and each form is stamped “This form is available for public inspection”.

A filing shown as “Linked, not yet read” has a confirmed link to the City's PDF and nothing transcribed. An empty list for that candidate means nobody has read the document yet. It does not mean the form has no nominators.
