ABC’s parks and recreation commitments sit under two platform headings, "Jobs & Economy" and "Restoring Vancouver", rather than under a parks heading.

This is the largest dollar figure any party has attached to a single commitment on this ballot. The platform does not say which five community centres, or over how many years the $400 million would be spent.

ABC also asked the province to abolish the elected Park Board during the last term. The mayor has since said he will not try to eliminate the board if re-elected. Seven Park Board seats are being filled on October 17 and ABC is running seven candidates for them.

The platform does not name them. It commits $400 million to five, and a second group of five in the next capital plan. We checked the platform page on September 22, 2026 and no list was published.

Does ABC still want to abolish the Park Board?

ABC-led council asked the province to change the Vancouver Charter to remove the elected Park Board during the last term. Mayor Ken Sim has since said he will not try to eliminate it if re-elected. The board still exists and seven commissioners are being elected on October 17.
