THE DOCUMENT
What is in the Vancouver Liberals Kareem's Plan for a Better Vancouver
The Vancouver Liberals publish their 2026 platform as a web page called "Kareem's Plan for a Better Vancouver," named for their mayoral candidate, Kareem Allam. The page says it was last updated on August 19, 2026, and that the party will add to it as it consults residents. It links to two short PDFs: a two-page plan for parks and recreation, and a one-page policy on intimate partner violence. The Vancouver Liberals are a municipal party, separate from the federal Liberal Party of Canada.
These pages follow the party's own topics: affordability and accountability, public safety, jobs and the economy, transit, health and the environment, and parks and recreation. Each topic is split into chapter pages that list every commitment in the party's words, with a link to the page or PDF it comes from. We added one thing the party does not give: which government would have to act for each commitment, and why.
Commitments covered here include hiring 400 unionized front-line city workers, cancelling what the party calls an $800 million second city hall, dropping the Vancouver Building Code, banning Bitcoin ATMs, making the SkyTrain to UBC the top transit priority, and keeping the elected Park Board with a larger share of the city budget.

Which government each commitment depends on
