The Vancouver Liberals are running 19 candidates behind mayoral candidate Kareem Allam, the second-largest slate on the ballot. Their commitments include hiring 400 front-line staff and cancelling an $800 million city hall project.

About Vancouver Liberals
The Vancouver Liberals are running 19 candidates: Kareem Allam for mayor at ballot number 56, 7 for City Council, 6 for Park Board and 5 for School Board. Only ABC is running more.
The party site gives its registered name as the Vancouver Liberal Electors Association and its founding year as 2025, which makes it the newest party running a large slate.
Kareem Allam is described in our candidate records as a political strategist and former mayoral chief of staff.
Its most distinctive commitment is abolishing the Vancouver Building Code and adopting the provincial one instead, which is the opposite of the Green Party position.

19: Kareem Allam for mayor, 7 for City Council, 6 for Park Board and 5 for School Board. That is the second-largest slate on the ballot after ABC.
When was the party founded?
Its website states 2025. We have not checked that against the Elections BC register of elector organizations.
What is their most distinctive commitment?
Eliminating the Vancouver Building Code and adopting the provincial one instead. Vancouver is the only BC city with its own building code, and the Green Party would keep it. This is one of the sharpest splits on the ballot.
What would the 400 new staff do?
Garbage pickup, road maintenance, and parks and recreation facilities. They would be unionized front-line staff. The party has not published what they would cost.
What is the "Second City Hall" they would cancel?
The party describes an $800 million project by that name and commits to cancelling it. The name and the figure are the party’s own description, and we have not checked them against the city capital plan.
Where do they stand on police in schools?
They support continuing and evolving the School Liaison Officer programme, which places police officers in schools. The Board of Education decides whether it runs.
Do they have a published housing supply plan?
No. The one published commitment touching housing is abolishing the Vancouver Building Code. We found no supply target, affordability commitment or rental policy on September 22, 2026.
