TrueBlue Vancouver on parks: clear encampments, clean facilities, single-sex washrooms

TrueBlue Vancouver would keep pools, rinks, fields, gyms and community centres safe, clean and affordable, and put youth sports first. It would enforce park bylaws, clear encampments and open-air drug use from parks, keep tree canopy, and keep public washrooms separate for men and women.

Fitness and Sports Facilities, Green Space and Public Washrooms: what the 2026 Full Election Platform says

TrueBlue Vancouver's public spaces section deals with the places people share. For sport and recreation, the party would keep pools, rinks, fields, gyms and community centres safe, clean and affordable, and give priority to core recreation services and youth sports. Its focus is the upkeep, cleanliness and safety of facilities the city already has, and it names no new facility.

On parks and green space, TrueBlue would clean up parks by enforcing public space bylaws and clearing what it calls dangerous encampments. It would keep park tree canopy and green space for recreation and family use, and keep parks free of illegal open-air drug use and encampments. The same green space text is printed on page 7 of the PDF, in the climate section.

For public washrooms, the party would improve cleanliness and safety and keep separate male and female facilities. This section of the PDF also repeats the party's policies on sidewalks and bike paths and on zoning. We list those in the transit and housing sections. The washroom policy repeats the position the party states in its human rights section on page 18.

Most of this chapter concerns the Park Board, which controls parks, community centres, pools, rinks and beaches. TrueBlue has no Park Board candidates, so its council candidate would need that board to act. Council funds street cleaning and shelter sites and approves the police budget. Police enforcement in parks would be directed by the Vancouver Police Board. Council could fund shelter spaces for people who leave encampments.
