TEAM would pursue a one-for-one replacement and retention policy for city-owned creative space, and repurpose unused or underused properties including Park Board and School Board facilities.
Publish an inventory of arts spaces
TEAM would create and publish an inventory of arts spaces on vancouver.ca, and build an arts and culture page there listing all events.
Incentives to retain creative space
TEAM would provide incentives for retaining and upgrading creative spaces and disincentives for demolishing them.
Support street festivals
TEAM would encourage and facilitate street festivals, naming Greek Day, Powell Street, Italian Day and Khatsalano.
Keep community centres affordable for the arts community
Community centres and other Park Board facilities would be kept affordable for arts use.
Review the civic theatres
TEAM would examine how Vancouver’s civic theatres could be made more suitable and affordable for the local arts community.
