TrueBlue Vancouver on rights: accessibility, immigration limits, single-sex spaces

TrueBlue Vancouver would improve accessibility in sidewalks, buildings, parks and transit links, put existing residents first for housing and services, and press senior governments to reduce immigration. It would keep male and female sports separate and protect sex-based privacy in washrooms and shelters.

HUMAN RIGHTS · PAGES 17 TO 18

Accessibility, Immigration, Sex Work and Public Services: what the 2026 Full Election Platform says

TrueBlue Vancouver's human rights section starts with physical access. The party would improve practical accessibility for people with disabilities in sidewalks, public buildings, parks, transit connections and other city services. Its housing section adds a related policy that would speed up permits for accessibility upgrades and for projects designed for residents with disabilities. Neither policy names a budget or a list of sites.

On recent immigrants, TrueBlue would give existing residents priority for housing and public services. It would push senior governments to reduce immigration when, in the party's words, population growth exceeds housing, healthcare, infrastructure and community capacity. On sex work, the platform proposes working with police and community groups against trafficking, exploitation, coercion and organized crime, and connecting vulnerable people with support services.

Under the heading "Trans Rights & Access to Public Services", the party would keep male and female sports separate. It would protect what it calls sex-based privacy in public washrooms, changing rooms, locker rooms, shelters and other intimate spaces. Its public washroom policy, in the public spaces section, says the same about washrooms. The platform does not say which facilities or programs it would change first.

Council controls city sidewalks, buildings and services. Parks, pools and rinks belong to the Park Board, and school facilities to the School Board. The Vancouver Police Board directs the police. The party itself names senior governments as the ones to act on immigration. No single body runs every washroom, change room and sports program in the city, so the single-sex policy would need more than one board to act.
