Monitor the Education Plan, expand child care on school sites, and creative capital funding
What Green Party of Vancouver has published about schools and student support, and what it has not.
SCHOOLS AND STUDENT SUPPORT
Green Party of Vancouver on schools
The party's School Board priorities track the Board's own Education Plan, push to expand child care on school property, and look for funding the province has not provided.
It repeats its opposition to reinstating police liaison officers here as a School Board matter, in addition to the public-safety area above.
5 PUBLISHED COMMITMENTS
What they say they will do
Monitor the Education Plan and student achievement gaps
Green trustees would track the Education Plan using both system data and qualitative feedback, to assess student success and identify and close achievement gaps.
Expand child care on school sites
The party would explore expanding child care spaces on school sites, including before and after school and ages 0 to 5, and monitor the district's Seamless Day child care pilot.
Find alternative funding for capital projects and operations
Facing what it calls inadequate provincial funding, the party would look for other ways to fund capital projects and school operations.
Expand Universal Design for Learning
The party would further develop Universal Design for Learning practices in every school and press the province for more support and funding for students with diverse learning needs.
Build a universal school food program
Green trustees would build on the district's Food Framework Vision and look for ways to bring food systems, and food and nutrition education, into every Vancouver school.
