Repeal green building rules, and focus climate spending on drainage and cooling infrastructure
What TrueBlue Vancouver has published about climate and buildings, and what it has not.
CLIMATE AND BUILDINGS
TrueBlue Vancouver on climate
The party's climate chapter opposes existing City climate rules on buildings, and reframes flooding and heat as maintenance and infrastructure issues rather than emissions issues.
It also ties park cleanliness and encampment removal to its "Green Space" policy, and opposes road-pricing and paid-parking expansion under "Private Vehicles and Parking."
5 PUBLISHED COMMITMENTS
What they say they will do
Repeal green building mandates and retrofit rules
The party would repeal what it calls costly municipal green building mandates, complex retrofits and gas-stove bans, and streamline the Vancouver Building By-law so builders and homeowners can choose their own heating, cooling and energy sources.
Direct spending to drainage, dikes and seawalls
The party would focus tax dollars on drainage, dike maintenance and seawall repairs, upgrading storm sewers and coastal defences, rather than what it calls activist environmental projects.
Maintain tree canopy and green space, tied to park cleanliness
The party would maintain park tree canopies and green spaces for recreation, while enforcing public space bylaws and clearing encampments it says make parks unsafe.
Maintain cooling infrastructure without new heat regulations
The party would keep community centre cooling, pools and ice rinks running through summer heat waves, without new heat-related regulations or taxes on private property owners.
Oppose road pricing and paid-parking expansion
The party would oppose mobility pricing and congestion taxes, and end paid parking expansion in residential neighbourhoods.
