What the forum will cover
604 Now reported that the event will give hospitality workers and business owners a chance to hear from candidates about their priorities for restaurants, bars, cafes, venues, suppliers, and hospitality workers. Chef's Favourite founder James Grass will moderate.
604 Now reported the forum will ask candidates how they would make it easier to open restaurants, how they would support nightlife while keeping workers and guests safe, and which recent city policy changes they would keep or change. The report noted that since 2023 the city has streamlined licensing, removed liquor establishment distancing rules, expanded service hours to allow restaurants to apply for service until 2 am, and waived patio permit fees for small private patios during summer 2026.
