Sio wrote on Instagram that an ABC event organized with less than 48 hours' notice drew Cantonese-speaking residents who spoke about changes they had seen on the streets and in Chinatown, and that Ken Sim and the ABC team would keep working on those results over the next four years. The post does not name the venue or say what Sio said at the event.

Chief election officer Jason Twa asked the B.C. provincial court to decide whether seven candidates, including Sio, could have usual names that combine an English name with Chinese characters printed on the October 17 ballot. The city's lawyer argued the Chinese names were not part of the candidates' usual names, that all the candidates except one appeared to use only English names on social media, and that adding the Chinese names later in the filing process was odd.

Her own words on School Board matters, found on her Instagram account, name no School Board measure, number, cost or date. Only the six most recent posts on that account could be read through Instagram's public embed page, so older posts were not checked. The party page's claims about the MBA scholarship, the driving school and the nonprofit could not be checked against any source outside the campaign, and the driving school's stated first-time pass rate is left out of this record for that reason. A web page about a Shirley Sio who came from Macau in the late 1990s through an immigration program appears in search results; it does not mention the candidacy or ABC Vancouver, and its dates differ from the party page, so it is not used. Sio has never held elected office, and a search of the Vancouver School Board's April to June 2026 minutes found no mention of her. Her nomination papers are linked on the City's list and have not been reviewed.
