Opinion piece asking the Vancouver School Board to act on its own racial justice commitments
Sigurdson co-signed a Georgia Straight opinion piece with Jamie Smallboy, also known as Nohtikwew pisim, and Kyla Epstein. The three parents argued that the board kept putting off or voting down motions on reconciliation and anti racism, and that rules limiting public speaking time made it harder for affected communities to take part.

OneCity Vancouver announces council, school board, and park board candidates
Nathan Caddell listed the OneCity slate approved for 2026 and described Sigurdson as a health researcher. The article named five school board candidates at that point, including Sigurdson and Rory Brown.

The PhD in sociology, the work as a health researcher and the district parent advisory council role were not confirmed by any university, employer or council record. In May 2026 OneCity announced five school board candidates, and by the September ballot only two OneCity names remained for school board. The reason for that reduction was not established from a source that names Sigurdson, although an April 15, 2026 agreement between COPE, OneCity and the Greens capped each party's school board candidates. No interview with Sigurdson from the 2026 campaign was found. Official City of Vancouver election result pages return an error to automated requests, so the 2022 vote totals were taken from the Wikipedia results table.
