Christopher Lee (李基鵬) appears on the City of Vancouver's final 2026 candidate list for School Board, with ballot number 325. The City records the affiliation as OneCity.

The campaign says Lee founded the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation and brought together thousands of Vancouver students around food security and education.

Lee appears at ballot number 325 in the School Board race as a OneCity candidate, with the Chinese characters 李基鵬 beside the name, in the ballot order Daily Hive published on September 22, 2026.

The Wikipedia page for the 2026 Vancouver municipal election lists Lee among OneCity's five School Board candidates and describes the candidate as the founder of the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation.

OneCity's candidates page says Lee founded the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation and organised Vancouver students around food security and education. It describes him as a youth community leader who wants students at the centre of the School Board. The party's older page for him, which carried the same paragraph, stopped answering on October 4, 2026.

The campaign site says Lee leads Helping Hearts, which it describes as running 35 secondary school clubs across British Columbia, five of them in Vancouver School Board schools.

The campaign site says Lee received the Medal of Good Citizenship, calling it the province's second-highest honour and saying he is one of the youngest people to receive it. The Province of British Columbia's own list of 2024 medal recipients names a Christopher Lee of Vancouver, and a provincial news release dated August 5, 2024 names Christopher Lee, Vancouver, “for inspiring youth to volunteer.” The province's citation for the award says Lee founded the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation at age 13, tying the record to this candidate. The province's own honours and awards page lists the Medal of Good Citizenship second, after the Order of British Columbia. No list ranking medal recipients by age was found, so the claim about being one of the youngest recipients is not confirmed.

The BC Achievement Foundation, a separate non-profit that gives its own awards, lists a 2024 Community Award for Christopher Lee and says Helping Hearts is collaborating with the Vancouver School Board on a tutoring program for marginalized elementary students. This page says Lee co-founded Helping Hearts; the province's citation and the campaign both say he founded it alone.

Helping Hearts' own website, thechangewesee.org, is separate from the placeholder page the campaign links to. It lists Christopher Lee as Founder and Chief Executive Officer for the 2025-2026 team year, alongside Kaleb Adatia as Co-Founder and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and reports 58 school clubs across British Columbia, more than 6,000 people reached and over $70,000 raised. These figures differ from the 35 clubs the campaign site states, and voche.me did not resolve the difference.

The VoteMate profile, filled in by the campaign, says Lee draws on five years of youth engagement work and wants student voices heard in board discussions.

The Georgia Straight, reporting OneCity's slate on May 11, 2026, named Lee as the founder of what it called the Helping Hands Youth Foundation. Daily Hive, reporting the same slate on May 12, 2026, named Lee without describing the role.

In his answers to The Griffins' Nest, the Eric Hamber Secondary student newspaper, published on September 22, 2026, Lee wrote that he is running because the current Board has not supported students well enough, and that the Board needs a trustee with recent, personal experience of the K to 12 school system. In a second answer, published on September 28, he wrote that he was in high school when the use of AI tools grew.

Vancouver Is Awesome, reporting OneCity's slate on May 14, 2026, called Lee the founder of the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation, the same name the province and the group itself use.

The Vancouver and District Labour Council lists Lee among the nine School Board candidates it endorses, on a page dated June 25, 2026. The Vancouver Secondary Teachers' Association executive council named him among the same nine in a post dated October 2, 2026.

The City's candidate list links Lee's Instagram account, christopherkplee. His Bluesky profile, christopherkplee.bsky.social, says he is running for School Board with OneCity and leads Helping Hearts. Court application over Chinese characters on the ballot

Vancouver's chief election officer and city clerk, Jason Twa, filed an application in B.C. Provincial Court asking whether seven candidates could put Chinese characters in their ballot names, on the question of what counts as a candidate's usual name under the Vancouver Charter. Lee was one of the seven, alongside Lenny Zhou, Iona Bonamis, Lorraine Lowe, Shirley Sio, Alfred Chien and Chris Qiu. The application was about the form of the name and made no allegation against any candidate. OneCity issued its own statement on September 12, 2026 saying the party was prepared to support and win the cases of both Bonamis and Lee, and a second statement on September 18, 2026 after the ruling.

Not found by voche.me on October 4, 2026: an independent count of Helping Hearts clubs and members (the campaign site says 35 clubs; the group's own site says 58); an official list that confirms the King Charles III Coronation Medal Lee mentions on Bluesky; and the full text of the CTV News report on the ballot-name ruling. Sources differ on who founded Helping Hearts: the province's citation and the campaign say Lee founded it, the BC Achievement Foundation says he co-founded it, and the group's own site names Kaleb Adatia as co-founder. The Georgia Straight called the group the Helping Hands Youth Foundation; the province, Vancouver Is Awesome and the group itself use Helping Hearts.
