INDIGENOUS RECONCILIATION AND RIGHTS
Conservative Party of BC on reconciliation
The party’s September 23, 2026 release says it will run on a plan to “repeal DRIPA”, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act passed in 2019.
In April 2026, Conservative MLA Trevor Halford introduced a bill to repeal that act. It was defeated at first reading, 44 votes to 47. Lorne Doerkson was among the 44 members recorded in favour.
The energy plan says the party would honour First Nations agreements on resources, pipelines and power lines, and expand loan guarantees so more First Nations can own a share of projects on their territory.
The platform page lists “Economic Reconciliation, Healthy Communities”, described as a plan for partnerships, economic development and respect for Indigenous governance. It did not open to published text on September 30, 2026.
