One Delta Delta 2026

Reading and math first, safe routes to school and the School Liaison Officer program

One Delta's school board platform has five parts: strong foundations in reading and math, safe schools, every student's success, healthy students, and support for the people who work in schools. It promises early help for students who struggle, a safe routes to school plan with the City and Delta Police, support for the School Liaison Officer program, more trades and career pathways, and phone limits during class time.

The school board platform's first part promises to make literacy and numeracy a priority in every classroom, to identify struggling students early, to expand support for older students, and to give teachers training and resources. The North Delta Reporter reported that trustee Ammen Dhillon described the plan as supporting the whole student, with mental health and relational skills alongside academics.

On safety, the platform promises a Safe Routes to School plan worked out with the City of Delta, Delta Police, parents and students, and support for walk zones and walking school buses. It promises to maintain and strengthen Delta's School Liaison Officer program, which puts police in partnership with schools, and to expand prevention and counselling.

The platform promises to prepare students for work through technology, co-ops, apprenticeships, dual credits and modern Tech-Ed workshops, and to keep Delta's graduation standards high with more enrichment. On wellbeing, it supports age-appropriate cellphone restrictions during class, digital citizenship lessons and more physical activity with Delta Parks and Recreation. The Reporter reported that the platform also supports the district's Justice and Equity Action Plan and Accessibility Plan, and says staffing is the largest part of education spending and needs sustainable provincial funding.
