A code of conduct, public question period and citizen advisory committees
Delta First's platform promises an enforceable Council code of conduct with independent oversight, the return of public question period at regular Council meetings, citizen advisory committees in five policy areas, and an end to block voting on Council. It also promises to press the Province for changes at Metro Vancouver.
HOW THE CITY IS GOVERNED
Delta First on governance
The Accountable Government part of the platform promises an enforceable Council Code of Conduct with independent oversight, the return of public question period at regular Council meetings, and citizen advisory committees for traffic safety and transportation, art, history and culture, sports, recreation and parks, environment and urban planning, and agriculture and food security.
The First 90 Days plan adds a promise to end block voting on Council motions and to encourage independence by councillors, and to restore question period so residents can put questions to elected officials.
On the region, the platform promises to work with the Province to modernize the legislation that governs Metro Vancouver, to make structural changes and to protect taxpayers. The site's four-year vision page says Delta will again be a strong voice at regional tables. These are the organization's own aims.
