Gentle, community-led growth and a new look at the Official Community Plan
Achieving for Delta's 2026 platform promises gentle, community-led growth, a review of the Official Community Plan with stronger public input, a meaningful voice for residents in how their neighbourhoods change, and faster, clearer building permit decisions. It gives no number of homes and no costs.
HOUSING AND ZONING
Achieving for Delta on housing
Under its Secure theme, the platform promises to support gentle, community-led growth, to review Delta's Official Community Plan with stronger public input, to make sure residents have a meaningful voice in how their neighbourhoods change, and to streamline building permits so applicants get clearer and faster decisions.
At the campaign launch on April 15, 2026, Harvie said the organization believes in gentle, community-led growth and that the feedback on the current Official Community Plan was that it was not meeting the mark, by the North Delta Reporter's account. The Reporter noted that the current Council, all elected under the organization's banner, had approved that plan on July 8, 2024 under provincial legislation that required a new plan by the end of 2025.
The platform also promises more opportunities for public input on major development proposals before a final decision. It names no change to zoning bylaws.
