Simpler City permits and business licences with published service standards
The BCA's platform has one promise about how City Hall works: simpler permits and business licences, with published service standards. Its section "How we work" describes the party's approach to other governments and holds no other promise.
HOW THE CITY IS GOVERNED
BCA - Burnaby Citizens Association on governance
Under "Supporting small businesses and local jobs", the platform promises to streamline permitting and licensing: simplify requirements, publish clear service standards, and redesign approvals so businesses can plan, invest and open faster. It sets no target for approval times.
The section "How we work" says the BCA has worked "under every kind of government in Victoria and Ottawa" and that it works "with whoever is in power". It says the BCA kept pressing until the Province covered a $9.4 million bill for a pay mistake that Burnaby schools did not make. That is the party's own account, and voche.me has not checked it.
The BCA ran no candidate for mayor. Its councillor Sav Dhaliwal told Freshet News in March 2026 that the BCA would run none, and said the council had worked well with independent Mayor Mike Hurley.
