CAMPAIGN FINANCE
How to check this party's money
Elections BC regulates campaign financing in local elections. Its Register of Elector Organizations, dated October 29, 2026, lists the BCA for Burnaby and the Burnaby School District.
Elections BC's search also lists the BCA's annual reports for 2022, 2023 and 2024, and its disclosure statements for the 2014 and 2018 elections and the 2021 by-election.
On February 18, 2025, Elections BC issued the BCA a $600 penalty under section 27 (1) of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. Its letter says a $1,250 contribution in August 2022 came with no residential address and was taken in by a BCA candidate who had no written authority from the financial agent to accept contributions. The letter says the BCA returned the contribution and cooperated with the investigation. The BCA's 2025 annual report lists the $600 penalty as an expense.
No report on the 2026 election is published yet. Elections BC says an elector organization must file a financial report within 90 days after general voting day for each election it takes part in, and by March 31 for each calendar year.
