A council that keeps its independence from the Province, and faster permits
NEW Burnaby's platform promises a council that works with the Province while staying independent of it and works with the elected mayor, and faster City permits.
HOW THE CITY IS GOVERNED
NEW Burnaby on governance
The platform's seventh area, "Political Independence", says the council "must never be beholden to outside political interests contrary to the interests of residents of Burnaby". It holds one promise: a council that works with the Province while staying independent of it, and works with the elected mayor.
Under "Opportunity", the platform promises to fast-track City permits, and says no daycare, renovation or small business should wait months for an answer from the City.
