Open government, free votes for each member, donor lists before voting day, and pressure on the Province
RITE Richmond's home page promises "access to democracy through open government" and collaboration with the Province and Ottawa. Its platform promises to pressure the BC government on housing, health care, long-term care and the drug crisis, and to work with all members of Council. Its constitution commits it to publishing its contribution lists before election day, and its Ethics page says each elected member votes as they see fit.
HOW THE CITY IS GOVERNED
RITE Richmond on governance
The organization's toxic drug statement says drug enforcement, drug education and addiction treatment are federal and provincial responsibilities, that the City's only power is to provide land for provincial housing programs, and that RITE councillors have been portrayed as wanting "drug sites" when they were pressing the Province to improve its programs. On election night Gillanders told the Richmond News that council "doesn't deal with drugs or healthcare or addiction".
Both Wolfe and Gillanders said yes in the Richmond News questionnaire to more public consultations before major infrastructure decisions, to continuing the City's appeal of the Cowichan Tribes ruling, and to more reconciliation work with First Nations. Wolfe wrote that the Province and Ottawa should negotiate any settlement.
Day's post of October 7, 2026 says she will work with the new council and support the new members. The About page says the organization wants easier neighbourhood consultations and more young people in local politics.

Publish contribution lists before election day
