Rachel Chernos Lin appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 15 Don Valley West. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as July 22, 2026 and the campaign website voterachel.ca.
The City’s Members of Council page lists Councillor Rachel Chernos Lin for Ward 15 Don Valley West. Her City profile, which ends with the line "Information provided by the Councillor", says she is Chair of the City-School Boards Advisory Committee and sits on the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, the Film, Television and Digital Media Advisory Board and North York Community Council. It says she serves on the boards of Toronto Hydro, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Leaside Memorial Community Gardens Arena and the Canadian Film Centre. The profile gives no start date for her time as councillor.
The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the 2024 Councillor Ward 15 Don Valley West by-election, a vote held to fill the seat between general elections, on Monday, November 4, 2024 and dated November 6, 2024, lists Rachel Chernos Lin first of 16 candidates with 12,899 votes, marked elected. The 16 declared totals add up to 23,555 votes, so her share was 54.8 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. Anthony Furey was second with 7,343. Sheena Sharp, also a 2026 candidate in this ward, was fourth with 575.
Her City profile says that before she became a councillor she served six years as a Toronto District School Board trustee, two of them as Chair. The City Clerk’s results list Rachel Chernos Lin first for trustee in the school ward it numbers Ward 11, with 9,440 votes of 8 candidates in the October 2018 election and 10,692 votes of 3 candidates in the October 2022 election, marked elected both times. The 2022 share was 64.1 percent of 16,691 declared votes, calculated by voche.me. Her City profile and The Local, which says she was elected a trustee in 2018, tie these entries to her.
The Local, in its tracker updated September 21, 2026, reports that she put forward successful motions that changed the staff-prepared bubble zone bylaw, a bylaw that limits protests near places of worship, child care centres and schools, and that she also moved motions on AI data centres, tree protection and the Peace Garden. The Local also says that in key votes she has "almost always voted with the mayor". Those are The Local’s accounts. The City’s decisions site was not available to voche.me, so no recorded vote is cited from the City.
Her campaign website says she is seeking re-election and claims more than a hundred motions at City Hall and a record of local engagement through Coffee Chats and town halls. Those are the campaign’s own statements. TTCriders, a transit rider group, asked every Ward 15 candidate 18 questions about the TTC, and its page lists her as an incumbent who gave no response to any of them. That list is TTCriders’ record.
