Mary Fragedakis appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and the campaign website maryfragedakis.ca.
The City Clerk’s declarations of results list Mary Fragedakis for Councillor in Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth, the ward as it was before 2018. In 2010 she received 7,430 votes and is marked elected. In 2014 she received 11,904 votes, the most of 6 candidates, and is marked elected. In 2018 the wards were redrawn, and she ran in the new Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth: the Clerk lists Paula Fletcher first with 16,468 votes, marked elected, and Mary Fragedakis second with 10,201 of 38,959 declared votes, 26.2 percent, calculated by voche.me. Her campaign website says she represented East York and the Danforth at City Hall for eight years, and Beach Metro and The Local give her years on council as 2010 to 2018. The City pages that voche.me opened give no start or end date for her term, so this record states none of its own.
CP24 reported on August 21, 2026 that she told reporters she did not consider entering the race until Paula Fletcher announced her retirement, and that she views a return as a continuation of her public service. CP24 also reports that she served as executive director of the GreekTown on the Danforth Business Improvement Area, a group of local businesses on a street, after leaving council, and that she is no longer in that role.
Allegation, as one outlet reports it. The Local says she is suing the business improvement area, which it says fired her as executive director in 2025. The Local gives no response from the business improvement area or from her. voche.me found no court record, no statement from the business improvement area and no statement from her, so the claim stays unverified and the reasons for the end of her role are unknown.
The Local also reports that she ran for the Ontario Liberal Party in the 2022 provincial election and was formerly affiliated with the NDP. voche.me opened no record of either. Her campaign website says she has spent the eight years since council working with businesses and communities, and lists five areas of work. Those are the campaign’s own statements.
TTCriders, a transit rider group, asked every Ward 14 candidate 18 questions about the TTC. Its page lists Mary Fragedakis with 15 answers of Yes and 3 of No. That list is TTCriders’ record.
