Marisa Sterling appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 10. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 19, 2026 and a campaign website, votesterling.ca. Ward 10 covers Beaches-East York and Scarborough Southwest.
Engineers Canada’s board page lists Marisa Sterling as Assistant Dean and Director, Diversity, Inclusion and Professionalism at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, and says she was elected the 101st president of Professional Engineers Ontario. The page gives no dates. Her campaign website says she has been a university assistant dean for over nine years at the University of Toronto and York University, was president and chair of the Board of Professional Engineers Ontario, and now sits on the Board of Engineers Canada. voche.me could not open Professional Engineers Ontario’s own pages, which refused the request, so the presidency rests on Engineers Canada’s page and her own site.
Her campaign website says she is a 26-year resident of Scarborough Southwest and Beaches-East York who was educated in TDSB schools. It says that since the province placed the TDSB under supervision in June 2025, trustees have had no work phone, computer or staff support. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during supervision trustees have no official duties with the board.

Marisa Sterling campaign website · HomeEvidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, the home page of her campaign website, her Know Your Vote T.O. page, Engineers Canada’s board page, her Instagram page (read through a summary), the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results, the TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list, the TDSB’s trustee wards page and Beach Metro Community News of August 21, 2026. Her professional roles come from Engineers Canada’s page, which describes its own board, and from her campaign website. Both are attributed in the sentences that carry them.
TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 10 covers City wards 19 and 20, which are Beaches-East York and Scarborough Southwest. The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names the old Ward 16 as Beaches-East York and the old Ward 18 as Scarborough Southwest. The City Clerk’s 2022 results show Michelle Aarts elected in the old Ward 16 and Malika Ghous elected in the old Ward 18. Those seats belong to the old wards and are not treated as seats in the new Ward 10. Beach Metro Community News reported on August 21, 2026 that Michelle Aarts registered for the new Ward 10 and withdrew her name on August 20, that the two old wards were merged into Ward 10, and that nine candidates are registered for it. voche.me found no current TDSB page that names the holder of the old Ward 18 seat, because the board’s ward pages loaded only the board’s home page, so that seat rests on the 2022 results alone. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in the October 2026 municipal election.
Gaps. The campaign website’s figures (a $32 million budget, 90,000 engineers, 55 schools and 25,000 students in Ward 10) were not checked against another source, and none is repeated here. Professional Engineers Ontario’s pages returned an access error. Her Facebook account was not opened. No school board minutes were opened and no school board or City seat is on record for her in these sources. The questionnaire has not been sent.
