About Farzana Rajwani

Farzana Rajwani appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 8. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 30, 2026 and a campaign website, farzanarajwani.ca. Ward 8 covers Don Valley West and Don Valley East.

The City Clerk’s results and a TDSB notice of November 28, 2024 show her as trustee for the old Ward 14, Don Valley East, since the 2022 election. Her campaign website says she is seeking re-election and describes a record that includes leading a Community Safety Table, supporting the board’s Math and Early Literacy Strategy and advocating for provincial funding. Those are the campaign’s own statements, and voche.me opened no board minutes to check them.

The Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s page dated September 5, 2026, which endorses her, says she was elected trustee for Don Valley East in 2022 and is seeking the new Ward 8 seat. That page is the council’s own statement.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, four pages of her campaign website, her Know Your Vote T.O. page, a TDSB notice dated November 28, 2024 that names her as trustee, the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results, the TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list, the TDSB’s trustee wards page, the Labour Council’s page about her, and the City Clerk’s March 2025 by-election results and the TDSB’s news item on that seat. Her trustee role comes from the City Clerk’s results and the board’s notice. Her committee roles, her list of achievements and her priorities come from her campaign website and are attributed to it in the sentences that carry them.

TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 8 covers City wards 15 and 16, which the City’s list names Don Valley West and Don Valley East. The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names the old Ward 11 as Don Valley West and the old Ward 14 as Don Valley East. The City Clerk’s 2022 results show Rachel Chernos Lin elected in the old Ward 11 and Farzana Rajwani elected in the old Ward 14. A by-election is a vote held to fill a vacant seat between regular elections. Trustees voted in December 2024 to hold one for the vacant old Ward 11 seat, the City Clerk declared Stacey Cline elected on March 3, 2025, and the TDSB says she took office on March 18, 2025. A TDSB notice dated November 28, 2024 names Farzana Rajwani as trustee for the old Ward 14, Don Valley East. Those seats belong to the old wards and are not treated as seats in the new Ward 8. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026. The TDSB’s news item of March 18, 2025 says the board’s current term ends on November 14, 2026. The Labour Council’s page dated September 5, 2026 calls her a former trustee, while the board’s 2024 notice and the term dates above show her seat running to November 14, 2026. voche.me found no current board page that names the holder of the old Ward 14 seat, so the current-role line follows the board’s own notice and the City Clerk’s results.

Gaps. Her Know Your Vote T.O. page lists her website, an Instagram account and a LinkedIn account, and its four questions are marked “Awaiting submission”. The Instagram page showed no readable posts and the LinkedIn page was not opened. Three of her website pages were read through summaries and are saved as summaries. No board minutes were opened, so no recorded vote is attributed to her. The questionnaire has not been sent.
