Deborah Williams appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 7. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 11, 2026 and a campaign website, votewilliamsto.ca.
A TDSB letter to parents dated August 26, 2024 is signed “Deborah Williams, Trustee, Ward 10 University-Rosedale & Toronto Centre”. The City Clerk’s declaration of results for October 24, 2022 lists Deborah Williams first among 7 candidates for Toronto District School Board Ward 10, with 18,708 votes, marked elected. The second place went to Jacky Lau with 7,480 votes. The 7 declared totals add up to 33,405 votes, so her share was 56.0 percent and Lau’s 22.4 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. The TDSB’s trustee list for 2018 to 2022 names the old Ward 10 as University-Rosedale and Toronto Centre. Her campaign website says she has served as trustee since November 2022. voche.me did not find a start date on the board’s own pages and gives none of its own.
TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 7 covers City wards 11, 12 and 13, which the candidates’ own sites call University-Rosedale, Toronto-St. Paul’s and Toronto Centre. The 2022 result belongs to the old Ward 10 and is not treated as a result for the new Ward 7. The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names the old Ward 8 as Eglinton-Lawrence and Toronto-St. Paul’s, and the City Clerk’s 2022 results show Shelley Laskin elected in the old Ward 8 with 19,779 votes. voche.me did not open a current board page that says who holds the old Ward 8 seat now. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026.
Her campaign website says that before 2022 she was a parent volunteer on school councils from 2012 to 2022 and on the TDSB’s Parent Involvement Advisory Committee from 2013, including as co-chair in 2014 to 2016 and 2018 to 2021. It says that as trustee she chaired the Program and School Services Committee and was the trustee co-chair of three community advisory committees. Its Track Record page lists budget, staffing and class-size decisions that it says she supported. Those are the campaign’s own statements. voche.me opened no board minutes and attributes no recorded vote to her.
The Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s page, dated September 1, 2026, describes her as a trustee dedicated to fully funded public education and gives the same Ward 7 area. Those descriptions are the council’s own, and her trustee role comes from the board’s letter and the City Clerk’s results.
