About Anu Sriskandarajah

Anu Sriskandarajah appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 12. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 17, 2026 and gives no campaign website. Ward 12 covers City wards 24 and 25, Scarborough-Guildwood and Scarborough-Rouge Park.

The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names her as trustee for the old Ward 22, Scarborough-Rouge Park. The City Clerk’s results for October 24, 2022 list her first among 4 candidates in the old Ward 22 with 6,338 votes, marked elected. A TDSB newsletter for the 2024-25 school year names her as the ward’s trustee and says, in her own words, that she was chosen to chair the committee searching for a new director of education. A CBC News report of September 2, 2025 calls her the TDSB trustee for Scarborough-Rouge Park. Her Know Your Vote T.O. answers say she has served as trustee for eight years. That is her own statement.

On September 29, 2025 she stood in the by-election for City councillor in Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park. The City Clerk’s declaration lists her second among 20 candidates with 3,374 votes. Neethan Shan was declared elected with 5,174 votes. CBC News quoted her as saying that many people in Scarborough pay into the City and want to see that investment come back to the area.

The Toronto and York Region Labour Council’s endorsement page for her says she first won election in 2018, serves as Vice-Chair of Policy and Governance, and is an associate professor of sociology at York University. Those are the council’s statements. voche.me found no board page that confirms the committee role.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, her Know Your Vote T.O. page, the Labour Council’s page about her, her Instagram account (read through a summary), the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results and its September 2025 by-election results, the TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list, a TDSB newsletter from her ward page, the TDSB’s Ward 22 and trustee wards pages and a CBC News report of September 2, 2025. Her trustee role comes from the City Clerk’s results and the board’s own documents. Her priorities come from her Know Your Vote T.O. answers, and the achievements in those answers are her own claims.

TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 12 covers City wards 24 and 25, which the City names Scarborough-Guildwood and Scarborough-Rouge Park. In 2022 the board’s wards were numbered differently. The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names the old Ward 19 as Scarborough-Guildwood and the old Ward 22 as Scarborough-Rouge Park. The City Clerk’s 2022 results mark Zakir Patel elected in the old Ward 19 and Anu Sriskandarajah elected in the old Ward 22, and a CBC News report of September 2, 2025 describes them as the trustees for those two areas. Those seats belong to the old wards and are not treated as seats in the new Ward 12. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in the October 2026 election.

Gaps. The City’s list gives no website. Her X profile lists DrAnu.ca, which did not resolve on October 4, 2026, so no campaign website was read. Her X page showed a login wall and her Facebook page showed only her name. The Instagram page was read through a summary and no single post was opened. The TDSB’s Ward 22 page names no trustee. No board minutes were opened, so no recorded vote is attributed to her. The Know Your Vote T.O. claims, such as work on the Woburn CI arts program and French Immersion sites, were not checked against board records. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Experience & community

Trustee, Toronto District School Board, Ward 22 Scarborough-Rouge Park (2022 ward)

The TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list names her as trustee for Ward 22, Scarborough-Rouge Park. The City Clerk’s results list her first among 4 candidates for the old Ward 22 on October 24, 2022 with 6,338 votes, ahead of 3,998, 3,288 and 768, marked elected.
