About Andrene Gregory

Andrene Gregory appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Toronto District School Board in Ward 5. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as August 21, 2026 and a campaign website, andrenegregory.ca.

Her campaign website says she is running to represent one of the largest newly redrawn wards in the board, and gives the TDSB’s commitment to equity, inclusion and anti-oppression as her reason. Its About page says she holds a degree in philosophy and English writing from Redeemer University and a diploma in legal administration from Centennial College, and describes her experience as a writer, researcher, life coach and law clerk. It also says she recently attended the Fraser Institute’s Economics for Journalists conference and that she is not a career politician. voche.me did not check these statements with the schools or organizations named.

In her answers on Know Your Vote T.O., a Toronto Public Library project where candidates write their own answers, she says a trustee has no jurisdiction over hiring and firing, so she would put students’ and teachers’ well-being first, and that on bullying she would support safety first, then intervention and restoration, then accountability and monitoring.

TDSB wards changed for 2026. Ward 5 covers City wards 10 (Spadina-Fort York) and 14 (Toronto-Danforth). The City Clerk’s declaration of results for October 24, 2022 shows Alexis Dawson elected in the old Ward 9 and Sara Ehrhardt elected in the old Ward 15, and the TDSB’s trustee list for 2018 to 2022 names the old Ward 9 as Davenport and Spadina-Fort York and the old Ward 15 as Toronto-Danforth. Those results belong to the old wards and are not treated as results for the new Ward 5. The TDSB’s trustee wards page says that during provincial supervision the powers of trustees rest with the provincially appointed Supervisor, that trustees have no official duties with the board at this time, and that this also applies to trustees elected in October 2026.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, three pages of her campaign website (home, Priorities and About), her Know Your Vote T.O. page, the TDSB’s trustee wards page, the City Clerk’s 2022 declaration of results and the TDSB’s 2018 to 2022 trustee list. Everything about her background and priorities comes from her own website and her own answers, and each is attributed in the text.

Gaps. Her Facebook page, Instagram account and LinkedIn profile are listed on her Know Your Vote T.O. page. The Instagram page opened as a login page, LinkedIn answered with an error code and the Facebook page was not opened, so nothing from them is used. Searches for her name returned her website and candidate lists, with no news report quoting her. No public role is on record in the profile, so no board minutes were searched. The 2022 results in the old wards are not linked to any candidate in Ward 5 here. The questionnaire has not been sent.
