Housing
Langley Strong's platform promises to champion housing options young families and seniors can afford, to speed up approvals and keep needless costs off new homes, to encourage multi-generational housing where appropriate, and to move the Township's housing society and the $177 million borrowed through it to an established non-profit housing provider once its buildings are full.
Budget
Langley Strong's first pillar promises a full forensic audit of Township finances in its first 100 days, with the findings published, tax and fee increases held to the lowest level the finances allow, a public timeline to pay down the debt with yearly reports, an end to the Mayor's Contingency Fund, a rule that debt taken on by any body the Township owns counts against its borrowing limit, a Council finance committee, and a long-term financial plan with borrowing limits and reserve targets.
Governance
Langley Strong's tenth pillar, Respect for Each Other, promises public consultation before major decisions, a guaranteed turn for residents who come to speak, a rule that public money is never used to threaten residents or colleagues, every major decision posted with its cost, closed meetings only when the law requires, quarterly totals of legal spending, Council meetings at times working residents can attend, and advisory committees rebuilt around specific tasks.
Schools
Langley Strong's trustee platform, Keep Langley Schools Strong, has five pillars: strong students, strong staff, strong schools and spaces, strong community, and strong and sustainable funding.
