The TTC put a package of service changes into effect on November 1, 2026, reshaping how riders get around Toronto for the fall and winter. The changes cover King Street West, Long Branch, Sunnybrook Hospital, express routes across Scarborough, and a set of seasonal suspensions. NOW Toronto reported on the full scope of changes on November 3. The TTC published the official details on October 28.

What changed on King Street West

The biggest disruption in central Toronto is on King Street West, where the City of Toronto is about to begin water main replacement work. The construction covers two stretches: from Close Avenue to Dufferin Street, and from Portland Street to Spadina Avenue.

To prepare, the TTC has changed how King Street operates. The 504 and 304 King streetcars now run as a single branch between Dundas West Station and Broadview Station. Riders who need service between Sunnyside Loop on Roncesvalles Avenue and Distillery Loop at Front Street East and Cherry Street now take the 504C or 304C King replacement buses, which run seven days a week.

The 503 Kingston Road replacement buses have been extended west to Dufferin Gate Loop. The 508 Lake Shore streetcar is suspended for the full period of the construction.

The TTC says service coverage along King Street West is maintained through the replacement buses. Wheel-Trans services remain accessible in all areas where local traffic is permitted.

Long Branch is open again

One piece of good news: construction at Long Branch Loop is finished. The 501 and 301 Queen streetcars and the 507 Long Branch streetcar are running to Long Branch Loop again. The temporary 301L Queen and 507 and 507M Long Branch bus replacement services have been removed.

The 501C Queen streetcar has resumed operating to Long Branch Loop in the late evening on weekdays and weekends. The 301 Queen overnight service has returned to Long Branch Loop as well. Riders in Etobicoke and Lakeshore who used the replacement buses can switch back to streetcar service.

New connections to Sunnybrook Hospital

The TTC has changed how two routes serve Sunnybrook Hospital on the east side of the city. The 52F Lawrence West route now runs east of Lawrence Station all the way to Sunnybrook Hospital on weekdays and Saturdays, in all time periods, via Lawrence Avenue East, Bayview Avenue, Wellness Way and Raab Boulevard.

The 11B Bayview route has been extended to operate between Lawrence Station and Sunnybrook Hospital, with late-evening weekend service added.

Two smaller routes are gone as a result. The 124 Sunnybrook route has been discontinued under the TTC's 2026 Annual Network Plan. The 11C Bayview branch has also ended. Riders who used those routes can switch to the extended 11B or 52F services.

Scarborough express bus routes expanded

The TTC has added service on five Scarborough express routes to improve coverage in the east end:

The 902 Markham Road Express now runs in weekday early evenings and on weekend mornings and afternoons, with buses every 15 minutes.

The 985 Sheppard East Express added weekday midday service at 15-minute frequency.

The 995 York Mills Express added service in weekday early evenings and weekend mornings and afternoons, with buses every 10 minutes.

The 943 Kennedy Express was reintroduced in peak periods on weekdays, providing connections between Kennedy Station and north Scarborough.

The 939 Finch Express has been adjusted: the 939C branch now runs in weekday midday and early evening periods and on weekend mornings and afternoons, with buses every 15 to 20 minutes. The 939A and 939B branches no longer serve the Scarborough Busway between Scarborough Centre Station and Kennedy Station.

The 904 Don Mills-Scarborough Express (formerly the 904 Sheppard-Kennedy Express) has been renamed and rerouted. It no longer runs between Scarborough Centre and Kennedy stations.

Seasonal routes are suspended

Four routes that serve warm-weather destinations have been suspended for fall and winter: the 200 Toronto Zoo, 201 Bluffer's Park, 202 Cherry Beach and 203 High Park routes. Weekend service on the 509 Harbourfront has been reduced in some periods. These routes run each spring when more people visit those locations.

Line 5 Eglinton and subway adjustments

On Line 5 Eglinton, the TTC adjusted runtimes in all time periods on weekdays and weekends to improve how transit signal priority works along the corridor. The agency says riders should see reduced travel times and more consistent service.

The TTC also updated weekday schedules on Lines 1 Yonge-University and 2 Bloor-Danforth. Schedule adjustments took effect on the 504 King and 505 Dundas streetcar routes as well.
