Toronto's 2026 municipal election is on Monday, October 26. Voting places across the city open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., according to a news release issued by the City of Toronto on October 22.

Voters must go to their assigned voting place, which is shown on their Voter Information Card (VIC). Anyone who has misplaced their card can find their assigned location or download a digital VIC at toronto.ca/Elections. The City says voters cannot choose a different location on election day.

To reduce wait times, the City recommends voting between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Anyone standing in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

What you need to bring

To vote, you need one piece of identification that shows your name and your Toronto address. The City says photo ID is not required. Bringing your VIC, either on paper or as a digital file on your phone, will speed up the check-in process.

Who can vote

The City of Toronto says you are eligible if you are a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, and either a Toronto resident or a non-resident who owns or rents property in the city. You may only vote once and must vote in the ward where you live, regardless of how many properties you own.

Accessibility

You can bring a support person to assist you at the voting place. A Voter Assist Terminal, a device that lets voters with disabilities mark a ballot privately and independently, will be available at two locations in each ward. Voters who need one but do not have it at their assigned place can call 311 before election day to request a ballot transfer.

Results

Unofficial results, covering votes from advance voting, mail ballots, and election day, will be posted on the Toronto Elections Results webpage after polls close on election night, the City says.
