The City of Toronto reported on October 13 that 222,550 eligible voters cast advance ballots during the six-day advance voting period, which ran from October 6 to 11, 2026. The total is 92 per cent higher than the 115,911 who used advance polls in the 2022 municipal election, and the highest advance voting total the City has recorded for a municipal election.

The City published the figures in a news release Tuesday morning, listing daily counts for each of the six advance voting days.

Day-by-day advance voting counts

According to the City's release, the daily counts were:

  • Tuesday October 6: 36,743 voters
  • Wednesday October 7: 31,018 voters
  • Thursday October 8: 28,666 voters
  • Friday October 9: 33,579 voters
  • Saturday October 10: 39,181 voters
  • Sunday October 11: 53,363 voters

Sunday had the highest single-day total, nearly 14,000 more than Saturday.

How this compares to past elections

The City's release lists advance voting totals for every Toronto municipal election since 2010. For comparison: the 2018 election saw 124,299 advance votes, 2014 saw 161,147, and 2010 saw 77,365. The 2023 mayoral by-election had 129,745.

The 2026 total of 222,550 is the first time the City has recorded more than 200,000 advance votes in a municipal election.
