About Susan Chapelle

Susan Chapelle appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as June 1, 2026 and the campaign website electsusanchapelle.com.

Her campaign website says she grew up in Toronto-Danforth, built businesses there and served two terms as a municipal councillor in Squamish, where she chaired public services and transit. It says she helped deliver a transit overhaul that increased ridership by 24 percent, and she gives the same figure in her TTCriders answers. The Local reports the figure as her own account. voche.me found no District of Squamish or transit agency record for it.

Two Squamish outlets name her role. The Squamish Reporter, in an article dated January 5, 2014, calls her Coun. Susan Chapelle, says she would seek re-election that November, and says she chaired the local transit committee. The Squamish Chief, in its election-night report of October 20, 2018, calls her a sitting councillor, and reports that Karen Elliott won the mayoral race with 2,273 votes, Jeff Cooke was second with 1,674 and Susan Chapelle third with 1,625, according to preliminary results released by the District of Squamish. voche.me did not open the District’s own results. CivicInfo BC, a public records site, refused the request with HTTP 403.

The Local describes her as a massage therapist and former Squamish councillor who also ran for mayor there, and says she previously worked as an audio engineer in Toronto. Her website names the Squamish work and says her career also spans health care, research, technology and labour. voche.me did not check those other claims with an outside source.

TTCriders, a transit rider group, asked every Ward 14 candidate 18 questions about the TTC. Its page lists Susan Chapelle with 16 answers of Yes and 2 of No. That list is TTCriders’ record.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and Councillor Paula Fletcher’s profile, the City Clerk’s 2022 results, three pages of her campaign website (home page, Meet Susan and Platform), The Squamish Chief’s 2018 election-night report, The Squamish Reporter’s January 2014 article, The Local’s Ward 14 tracker and TTCriders’ page of Ward 14 candidate responses. Every statement taken from her campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account.

Ward context. The sitting Ward 14 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Paula Fletcher. The City’s candidate data lists her withdrawal on August 19, 2026, and The Local says she is not seeking re-election. The City’s list has 18 candidates for Ward 14: Maqsood Ahmad, Susan Chapelle, Michael Connor, Dennis Corcoran, Robb Dagenais, Peter De Marco, Sara Ehrhardt, George Fawcett, Mary Fragedakis, John Kladitis, Michael Mitchell, Caryma Sa’d, Dianne Saxe, Devyn Stackhouse, Jason Stevens, Christiane Tetreault, Maria Voutsinas and Denise Walcott. The City Clerk’s 2022 results for Ward 14 list five candidates: Paula Fletcher (20,305 votes, elected), Wali Abro (1,982), James Dyson (1,937), Denise Walcott (1,740) and John De Marco (1,469). A search for a 2026 debate or all-candidates meeting in the ward found none.

Gaps. The District of Squamish’s own election results and council records were not found, and CivicInfo BC refused the request (HTTP 403), so her Squamish dates and vote counts rest on the two Squamish outlets. The 24 percent ridership figure has no record behind it in what voche.me opened. A 2019 company press release about her later work was opened and is not used, because the company wrote it. Her audio engineer career and her union membership, which her website describes, were not checked. Her social media accounts were not read. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Experience & community

Two terms, as stated by her campaign; reported as a sitting councillor in 2014 and 2018

Councillor, District of Squamish, British Columbia

Her campaign website gives two terms and says she chaired public services and transit. The Squamish Reporter called her Coun. Susan Chapelle in January 2014, and The Squamish Chief called her a sitting councillor in October 2018. voche.me did not open a District of Squamish record of her dates, so it states none.
