Nicki Ward appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 13 Toronto Centre. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 1, 2026 and the campaign website NickiWard.ca.
The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the October 24, 2022 general election lists Nicki Ward second among 9 candidates for Councillor in Ward 13 Toronto Centre, with 3,940 votes. Chris Moise was first with 10,457 and was marked elected. The 9 declared totals add up to 21,568 votes, so her share was 18.3 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. The Local’s Ward 13 tracker says that in 2022 she came second to Chris Moise in this ward, which ties the City’s entry to this candidate. The Local also says she ran for council before in University-Rosedale and as a Green Party candidate in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections. voche.me did not check those earlier races.
Her website’s Qualified page, the campaign’s own statement, lists a role as chief executive of Canada’s largest housing co-operative, which it describes as 1,000 residents and a capital budget of $100 million, executive board experience in the private, non-profit and public sectors, and senior management work in the health and financial sectors. The Local gives its own description: a former president of a large housing co-op in Toronto Centre, a former board member of The 519 and a former insurance executive. voche.me did not check these roles with the organizations.
Her Effective page, the campaign’s own statement, says that as Councillor she would hold City departments and initiatives to objective benchmarks for success or failure, and it names accountability as the core of the job. The Local reports that she supports abstinence-based rehabilitation for people who use drugs instead of harm reduction, wants the federal government to put 5 percent of its National Housing Strategy budget toward housing co-ops in Toronto, and wants the City to track and audit incidents on the TTC.
The Eyeopener reported on September 29, 2026 that she is one of 73 signers of a TTCriders pledge to keep transit affordable. TTCriders’ page of Ward 13 candidate responses lists her as answering Yes to each of its 18 questions. That page is TTCriders’ record.
