About Madhuri Azad

Madhuri Azad appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 22 Scarborough-Agincourt. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 19, 2026 and gives no campaign website. The Local’s tracker links madhuriazad.ca. The page carries her name and the Ward 22 campaign, and voche.me treats it as the campaign’s own statement. On October 4, 2026 it showed only an under-construction notice saying the full site is launching soon.

Build Canada publishes the biography she wrote in answer to its questionnaire. In it she says she is a licensed Ontario lawyer with over 16 years in the legal field, with a background in Computer Science Engineering and a Master of Laws degree, a PIAC (Parent Involvement Advisory Committee) Ward Co-Representative for the Scarborough-Agincourt region and a TDSB school council Co-Chair. voche.me did not check these statements against the Law Society of Ontario’s directory or the school board. The Local’s tracker describes her as a licensed Ontario lawyer and community volunteer, the Ward 20 representative of the TDSB’s Parent Involvement Advisory Committee and a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association. The Local and Build Canada word the committee ward differently, and the Toronto PIAC website voche.me opened did not show her name. The statements are shown as each source gives them.

Her Build Canada answers, published as she gave them, include: No to allowing more housing as of right in every ward; Yes to requiring a person to leave an encampment when an indoor space that meets their needs has been offered; No to road pricing; Yes to raising additional local revenue for the infrastructure repair backlog; Yes to publishing project-level budgets and schedules; mental-health response, addiction treatment and youth intervention as the best use of added public safety money; a police budget that stays constant after inflation; and more frequent and reliable service on existing routes as the best use of new transit funding.

The Local says her campaign says it is about “building a safer, stronger, and more connected Ward 22” and lists cost of living, transit, small businesses, affordable housing and safe communities as priorities. voche.me could not read that on her site, so it is The Local’s account. TTCriders’ Ward 22 page records no response from her to its 18 transit questions.

Public safety spending, in her Build Canada answers

She chose mental-health response, addiction treatment and youth intervention as the area needing the most added investment, and a police budget that stays constant after inflation.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, the home page of her campaign website, her candidate page and answers on Build Canada, The Local’s Ward 22 tracker, TTCriders’ Ward 22 page, the Toronto PIAC website and The Green Line’s list of events for council candidates. Every statement taken from her website or her Build Canada biography is written as her own account.

Ward context. The City's Members of Council page for Ward 22 Scarborough-Agincourt lists Councillor Nick Mantas. The City's list of certified candidates shows 10 candidates for the ward: Madhuri Azad, Bill Chan, Jackson Ho, Serge Khatchadourian, Rakhee Kotecha, Aaron Lal, Dan Lovell, Nick Mantas, Donny Morgan and Sindia Vijayarajan. The City Clerk's 2022 results for the ward list 6 candidates: Nick Mantas (8,228 votes, elected), Bill Wu (3,153), Antonios Mantas (1,841), Roland Lin (1,549), Serge Khatchadourian (1,383) and Anthony Internicola (677). Of the 10 candidates for 2026, only Nick Mantas and Serge Khatchadourian appear by name in those results. Build Canada's Ward 22 page records questionnaire answers from 2 of the 10 candidates, Madhuri Azad and Dan Lovell. TTCriders' Ward 22 page records answers to its 18 transit questions from 5 of the 10: Nick Mantas, Jackson Ho, Serge Khatchadourian, Dan Lovell and Donny Morgan. The Green Line, in an article dated September 24, 2026, lists a Ward 22 candidate debate on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Agincourt Mall, Room 525. The listing names no attendees, so voche.me states none. The City's decisions site (secure.toronto.ca) returned HTTP 403 when voche.me requested it, so no recorded vote or Council decision is cited from it.

Gaps. Her website showed an under-construction page and its About page address returned HTTP 404, so her priorities come from The Local and from her Build Canada answers. The Law Society of Ontario’s directory and the school board’s committee records were not read. Her website links no social media account that voche.me could find. She holds no City office, so no minutes search applies. The questionnaire has not been sent.
