About Jason Stevens

Jason Stevens appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 29, 2026, the earliest of the ward’s candidates in the research roster, and the campaign website votejasons.com.

The City Clerk’s declaration of results for the November 4, 2024 by-election for Councillor in Ward 15 Don Valley West lists a Jason Stevens twelfth among 16 candidates, with 70 votes. Rachel Chernos Lin was elected with 12,899. The 16 declared totals add up to 23,555 votes, so the entry’s share was 0.3 percent, calculated by voche.me from those figures. The City’s document gives only a name. The Local’s Ward 14 tracker says Jason Stevens came 12th out of 16 candidates in a Ward 15 by-election in 2024 and that this is his third run for Toronto city council, so that source ties the entry to him. voche.me did not find his two other runs in the City documents it opened, and he is not in the 2022 general election results for any ward.

His campaign site, the campaign’s own account, says he is a lifelong resident of Toronto-Danforth running for “a broad agenda of social action and change”. Its About page says he has been elected eight times to various roles, has lobbied at the House of Commons on the affordability of post-secondary education, holds a psychology degree from McMaster University and owned a vegan catering business from 2000 to 2004. voche.me did not check these claims. NOW Toronto repeats the lobbying statement and attributes it to his website. The Local says he describes himself as an animal rights activist.

NOW Toronto reported on April 17, 2026 that a business owner alleged Stevens made a racist remark that referred to George Floyd while at a booth at the Toronto National Home Show, in a video that NOW says drew more than 800,000 views on TikTok. NOW quotes him in the video as saying he would “put my foot down” and asking whether the owner remembered what happened to George Floyd, and says it asked him for comment and got no reply before publication. The Local reports that the owner called the comment racist and disparaging, and that in an email to The Local Stevens said he apologized the day after the incident and does not condone police brutality. This is a public allegation reported by two outlets. No court or regulator has decided anything about it. voche.me did not watch the video.

NOW Toronto says that, according to his platform, he promises to bring forward constituents’ concerns, challenge the proposed expansion of Billy Bishop airport, freeze property taxes at 2 percent and build more shelter beds. The Local adds, from his Instagram posts, that he wants to rename Sankofa Square to Terry Fox Square and to fight antisemitism and Islamophobia. voche.me did not open his platform page.

What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 4, 2026: the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates, its Members of Council page and Councillor Fletcher’s profile page, the City Clerk’s declaration of results for the 2024 Ward 15 by-election, the home page and About page of his campaign website, NOW Toronto’s reports of April 17 and August 21, 2026 and The Local’s Ward 14 tracker. The sitting Ward 14 councillor on the City’s Members of Council page is Paula Fletcher, whose City profile page shows July 31, 2026 as its modification date. The City’s data shows her withdrawn from the Ward 14 race on August 19, 2026, and The Local says she is not seeking re-election. The 18 candidates for Ward 14 on the City’s list are Maqsood Ahmad, Susan Chapelle, Michael Connor, Dennis Corcoran, Robb Dagenais, Peter De Marco, Sara Ehrhardt, George Fawcett, Mary Fragedakis, John Kladitis, Michael Mitchell, Caryma Sa'd, Dianne Saxe, Devyn Stackhouse, Jason Stevens, Christiane Tetreault, Maria Voutsinas and Denise Walcott. The Local says Robb Dagenais announced on September 7 that he is withdrawing, and that his name stays on the ballot. Every statement taken from his campaign website is written as the campaign’s own account.

Gaps. The Platform link on his site returned no page to this reader, so his platform is known only from NOW Toronto and The Local. NOW Toronto was read through a summary tool, and its summaries are saved with that label. The claim of eight elected roles was not checked with any body. The Local reports two other runs for council, which voche.me did not find in the City documents opened. His social media accounts and the video were not opened. No 2026 debate or all-candidates meeting for the ward was found. The questionnaire has not been sent.
