Curran Stikuts appears on the City of Toronto’s list of certified candidates for Councillor in Ward 13 Toronto Centre. A certified candidate is one whose nomination the City Clerk has accepted. The list shows the nomination date as May 1, 2026 and the campaign website votecurran.ca.
His website’s About section, the campaign’s own statement, says he was born and raised in downtown Toronto and started working in Toronto Centre in 2008 at a housing co-operative. It says he then spent a decade at The 519 Community Centre, most recently as Director of Advocacy and Strategic Communications, served on non-profit boards focused on poverty reduction and 2SLGBTQ+ issues, sat on Toronto Public Health’s implementation panel for the City’s mental health and drug strategy, and co-chaired the 51 Division Community Police Liaison Committee. voche.me did not check these roles with the organizations.
CBC News reported on September 15, 2026 that he is a political newcomer who previously worked as advocacy director at The 519, a 2SLGBTQ+ community centre and social service organization, and that he told CBC he plans to treat affordability, safety and transit as connected issues. CBC also reports that Kristyn Wong-Tam, the former area councillor and current NDP MPP, endorsed him, and quotes her social media post: “[Stikuts] has the connections to Toronto Centre to deliver the strong progressive representation we deserve.” His website says he is also endorsed by the Toronto & York Region Labour Council. That is the campaign’s statement and voche.me did not check it with the Labour Council.
His Platform page, the campaign’s own statement, sets out commitments under headings that include housing, safety and support, public space, getting around, affordability, climate action and culture and nightlife. On housing it says he will push to expand the City’s Multi-Unit Residential Acquisition program, which helps non-profits buy rental buildings, make sixplexes legal across Toronto, raise the Vacant Home Tax, double the Rent Bank and set up a Condo Resident Help Desk in the Councillor’s office. The page gives no costs for these commitments.
The Eyeopener reported on September 29, 2026 that he is one of 73 signers of a TTCriders pledge to keep transit affordable. TTCriders’ page of Ward 13 candidate responses lists him as answering Yes to each of its 18 questions. That page is TTCriders’ record.
